In reference to the front pages story on 3 potential BBall transfers.

a PG and 2 SG.
I really expected coach to try to fill the giant hole at he 5 spot. Maybe there's time to pluck some JCO kids but all I hear are crickets.
ERIII
Malone
Bridgewater ? Truth he is the best physical presence we have in the post. And a soft touch under the basket but 6'5"...
I've read some people projecting Victor at the 5, is that true?

I'm pretty sure those transfers would have to sit out next year anyways. So even if one of the potential transfers was a big, it wouldn't fix the hole for this season.

Depending on the matchups, I think Victor will play the 5 and the 4. I really do expect ER3 to take a jump in his development next year and be a solid contributer.
If ER3 really develops, my dream lineup at the 3, 4, 5 would be Simmons, Victor, and ER3

All three of those guys would have to sit out next year. Plus, he wouldn't be doing his due diligence if he didn't look into the top transfers available on the market

What you're failing to realize those are just media reports from outside the team. No LSU sources have really talked about those guys. Ray Kasongo has been mentioned through LSU outlets. Let's wait and judge once everything is done. It's all speculative until then. Let the roster take shape.

I was just curious, not judging or saying they aren't doing a good job. Hell with Simmons and Blakney and possibly Newman coming in even if we didn't ad any other big's I've all this recruiting class one of the best in school history.

It was reported by a non-LSU site last night that LSU is in the mix for James Thompson who was a senior last year at Parkview Baptist. He signed with S. Carolina but never made it to campus. He had some off the court issues. He's a 4/5. I remember during his recruitment he stated that LSU wanted him to gain weight and play the 5, but that he preferred to play the 4.

As much talent as we have coming in next year, our success depends on the development of Robinson. If Robinson can develop into a serviceable 5, then look out. If we are forced to play small with Victor at the 5 and Simmons at the 4 then we are going to run into the same depth issues we ran into this year late in the season.

After this upcoming season, LSU will lose almost its entire backcourt. Getting guards is a most for the 16-17 season.....
The 3 transfers listed in the article would have to sit out this upcoming season.

Yes I think ER3 improves.
Why people are forgetting Epps is beyond me. Had he not gotten injured he would have played meaningful minutes last year.
Some will say he got healthy by SEC play. Well in all fairness to him and the coaching staff, you cannot throw a freshmen out there with meaningful SEC games on the line. Most coaches will have their rotation of who will play the majority of the minutes by conference play. Its not that Epps was not better than Malone or Bridge, simply as a team they had practiced and played the entire year, and both regardless of our criticisms on their style of play or their height/weight, play with tremendous effort, as a coach you have to reward that in some way or everything you stand for goes out the window.
I do not want Williams-Goss, from the reports out of UW he is a problem. Washingtons coach is one of the most respected names in all of college basketball and a true players coach. If NWG is considered cancerous there then im sorry good luck anywhere else.
As someone previously mentioned, our guards could be thin by 16/17. But just look at Hornsby getting guys that arent stars, but can be definite starters to sit out one year in the program is better than most HS players and anyone instate for 2016/17, not sying for the long haul.
Think Evan Payne would be a great addition as well as Kasongo.

Thank you (and a few others here) for explaining this to the OP. "Will" is a strong word. "Could" is probably better. Gray & Hornsby are definitely gone after next season. Blakeney and TQ are strong possibilities to leave, but not definites (IMO I think Blakeney is here two years). I doubt Jones wants to go into 16-17 with only one experienced guard.
The only effect a transfer would have on this season is that if they chose LSU they would take one of the 2 remaining scholarships for this year.

Nigel Williams-Goss, Marcus Foster, and Evan Payne.
Can add Villanova G transfer Dylan Ennis to the list as well.

all those guards will have to sit out a year which is what they need with Gray, Hornsby as seniors, Quarterman might project to NBA after jr year and even if you get Blakeny and Newman they could be one and doners.
They are still recruiting some post players but how much of a help this late in the recruiting process, who knows!

I have doubts about TQ leaving early for the NBA. If he does, he'll never see the court. Maybe overseas. I actually have doubts if he is a NBA player period.

Garrett Temple has had a pretty decent NBA run. At the same stage, TQ is significantly better than GT was. Agree he should not leave early at this point but he's certainly got NBA potential.
