I know on paper we want the best recruiting class possible, but that's what Miles got us every year: RBs, WRs, DBs. He rarely focused in on the positions of greatest need. O's first class, although a dissapointing DT haul, really focused on areas of need and didn't take in guys who may have made us "look better on paper" but didn't fit in here. Bryan Jones and Justin Harris are the classic examples: they're 4-3 DE's. We're running the 3-4 now and want a DT/DE closer to 300, not 250. I think if they had come here they'd of wasted their college career and we knew that. I'm glad we'really gonna let them go play somewhere they can make an impact and still won't be playing against us. I think O sees that eventually we'll steal some guys from Bama because they know they ecoming to a guy who is gonna let them play for him instead of ride the bench for 3-4 years.

Hopefully we take 29/30 next year and its a record breaker.

The pieces are in place for that to happen. Coaching staff, class size, in state talent, etc.

This. My only wish is that he had gotten another rb. Other than than keep them for next year and play the game like bama did this year - get kids in early (December) and sign 30. Talent is better instate next year so there is a real opportunity

I think this was a great class. While I would have liked to have picked up Wilson, Shelvin and Farrell are excellent guys and really all we needed after our elite haul from last year. We just need to make sure we get at least 2 solid DTs next year.

We needed ILBs in a big way and got 2 very good ones. We picked up an elite pass rusher to replace Key after he leaves next year. We picked up 2 great QBs with complimentary skill sets, 3 solid safeties (one of which could also be a very good WR), a premier left tackle and big bodies on the OL.

Think about it in that context and you realize what a great class this is. Even further, when you realize this is a transition year with a new HC, OC and 2nd year DC this was an incredible job.

I agree. Most probably we will some shake up in the staff I would think. Whatever the case may be I am looking forward to this staff having a full year to further identify the talent that fits our needs, develop relationships with the players, parents, coaches and other decision makers involved in the recruiting process. Coach O and his current staff worked under some difficult situations. Particularly in the negative recruiting area. I commend them for their hard work. Stinks we lost out on some players we really needed but it is what it is and honestly we hauled him some damn good players. At least we don't have to deal with a class such as Texas put together. Removing a HC is not for sissies that's for sure.
