With 5 of the top 15 in state for 2018 being WR, I dont see LSU breaking a sweat on this one.

interesting thought

I dont think so, I don't think WR numbers are that pressing with the talent we have in state next year.

I think McMath was the insurance for Smith.
At this point, I would save any spots for the 18 class since O and staff can focus on that full steam ahead.

With the remaining ones on board we can take whatever we get and thank O for salvaging most of the class which is impressive in itself with the uncertainty this past year.

Another thing to watch is that Marlon is boys with Neil Farrell, who isn't exactly solid.

I could see Marlon coming here if Smith signs with Bama, Farrell sticks, and we don't fill up.

This! I hope the staff doesn't feel pressure to take another WR unless its Smith. The roster still has underclassmen at the position (Dillon, Anderson, Sullivan, Davis, Netherly, McMath), you already have a 2018 WR commit, and there's 4 prospects in-state ranked higher than your '18 commit ( I do think Kenan Jones moves up in the rankings after some analysts stated he was the best WR at the Army underclassmen combine).

I'd guess he drove. It'd take around 8 hours round trip, but he loves him some BAMA

I seems to me that Bama is making the decision on Smith and not vice versa. Their numbers are already tight and Ruggs could well be deemed a better choice for Alabama.
It is not coincidental nor unimportant that Alabama offered Ruggs' brother yesterday. He is class of 2018.
So, Smith could be using LSU as a back up plan after treating the Tigers like a step child for a year. Handlers can complicate things, can't they.
Karma may be just outside the door...
