They are only going to one: Alabama. Kids born in 1999 hate their home state.

3/5 going to bama
4/6 if you count Moses
5/7 if you count Buggs

we got our arse kicked this year - and still managed a great class. its pretty remarkable really.

Add Mathis and smith...no wonder we won't beat them!!! Every year our top talent leaves. Just like the 90's

You also have to consider the fact that this isn't a huge year for Louisiana prospects. While I understand people getting upset when a Louisiana player goes out of state, the counter is seeing LSU get 2 of the 4 best players from TN (both rated higher than most, if not all of the LA talent). LSU could also potentially get 3 of the top 10 players from TX (again, all rated higher than most, if not all of the LA top 10)

As much as we want to see LSU "build a fence" around the state, I'll take losing some LA players if it means getting BETTER players from elsewhere. The crushing blow is when you lose big time LA players during a banner year for the state. At least, on paper, 2017 doesn't look like a huge year for LA and LSU is still getting some big time players from other places

People keep saying this to make it hurt less.
The top 12 are all composite 4 star players - they arent schmucks. Add Moses and Buggs.

Mathis, Devonta, Allen, Moses, Buggs - these guys are elite high 4 star or better. these are losses, not us taking better players.

Jamal Adams over Hootie Jones comes to mind.

Gotta stop losing and putting 0's on the board against them. That's the only way to take the hearts out of these guys eyes when they see Little Nicky.

Well this is just a giant overreaction. Step away from the ledge brother.

In 2016 LSU landed 9 of the top 10 LA players
In 2015 it was 7 of 10
In 2014 it was 5 of 10, but I think most would agree outside of Cam Robinson, LSU got the better end of the "lost" commitments. Would you take Hootie Jones over Jamal Adams, or even Chark over Speedy Noil?
In 2013 LSU pulled 7 of the top 10
In 2012 (not a great year for LA talent) LSU got 6 of 10. The big miss was Landon Collins, but the other top 10 misses were Shiro Davis and Denzel Devall. Remember those guys? I don't. However, there were so other LA players named Hill, Hawkins, Dural, D. Jones outside of the top 10 who did OK at LSU.

Regardless of what happens with Mathis and Smith, LSU is likely going to finish with at least a top 8 class. That doesn't happen after a coaching change.

Being a composite 4 star doesn't necessarily make someone a priority for LSU. Take Brad Stewart for example. He's a solid player, but that's not a loss when we clearly preferred Kirklin, Vincent, and (hopefully) Harris.

Mathis

Assuming he goes, you hate to lose great DL players. But if LSU can land Shelvin, Wilson, Bryant/Chassion it's not like LSU would not be barren at DL if they miss on Mathis

quote:

Devonta,

Smith is a great player. But a loss at WR isn't as big of a deal as a loss at a lineman spot. You can replace WRs pretty easily, plus the state has some very good ones next season.

quote:

Allen,

You lost him, but you got the #1 guy at his position -- Phillips. I'll take that trade if I have to

quote:

Moses Buggs

Tough losses who maybe would be here if Miles was still the HC. But if that is the price that has to be paid to move on from Miles, so be it. If LSU can land Gay and/or Chassion, losing those guys won't sting nearly as much.

Let's just see how it plays out before declaring the program dead.
