And we have 8 combined from last year and this year.

We had 4 last year. One of those will be a senior next year, the other three haven't stepped on the field and two of those have been injured.

The only definite we have right now is Quinn. Chark and Upchurch could play other positions.

You will need thicker skin to hang around here, this time of year it gets a little rantish.

Yes. But y'all are always better on D than us the last 10 years. Been stacking talent for a while. A&M just started recruiting average to above average on the AD side of the ball. Sherman did great as an offensive recruiter. Horrible on D.

But relative to this thread here are A&M's WR's by class for next year....

WR (12 total)
Sr.
Malcome Kennedy

Jr.
Sabian Holmes

Sophs
Edward Pope
Ja'Quay Williams
LaQuvionte Gonzalez
Jeremy Tabuyo
Josh Reynolds

RS Fresh
Ricky Seals-Jones
Sabastian Larue
Kyrion Parker

True Fresh
Jamal Jeffery
Speedy Noil
**Nacho?
**Davion Hall?

10 WR coming back and we've already got 3 commits. How would bringing Nacho and Dupre work? Would some of the lesser talented WRs be cut?

It's ok. I've been off and on the RB for a few years. It used to be great about only being recruiting talk but it's understandable if it's gets chirpy around February

I wouldn't come back if I didn't enjoy you guys

We have 5 coming back, assuming Landry and Beckham are gone, and only one definite WR commit.

Where do I find that? I was just going by this year's roster.

Upchurch and Chark can both be considered wide receivers. They play the position in high school and both camped and were offered as receivers.

The main reason people were saying they would switch positions was because Speedy, Quille, and Blacknall were considered LSU leans. Now since that isn't happening both Upchurch and Chark will compete at receiver. Nobody's spot is set, any of them can compete and win their spot. Especially at receiver. That's good for us because that competition will make all of them better

But that doesn't interest y'all. Results are all that matters and we'll have to wait and see. In the meanwhile this is the recruiting board. Sorry if my presence got this thread off track. I was only trying to contribute.

My comment wasn't meant as a dig. I just remember how frustrating it was seeing a defense one year removed from a BCSNC that we KNEW had talent look like the damn keystone cops. It was infuriating.

In relation to recruiting, I know you guys are upgrading your D talent, but the coaching is ultra critical. If you don't have that, talent almost doesn't matter. See LSU in 08 and UGA during Martinez's tenure as DC.

ETA: Sorry if I strayed off topic and didn't clarify what I was getting at.

I can't decide if it was youth or coaching. We had enough talent to be better than we were. So that has to be coaching. But, idk, I like our D coaches. I don't want any fired yet. They have good past history to make me think they can get it right.

We are getting a new DB coach in a few days. Ours left to be DC at Boise St last week.

I've been hoping Snyder, who has an amazing resumé, would be our Chavis or Bud Foster. Career DC that's very good.

Do you guys think Nacho is Day 1 ready? Evans took a RS year because he only played HS football one year.

Nacho is similar in that regard. Although a lot higher recruited and with bloodlines.

Maybe, maybe not. Chark has what we normally look for in a corner and Upchurch may be 230+ by the time het gets here.

We dont play too many freshmen WRs, but he may get a chance to compete since we really don't have anyone established.

We have only five WRs on the roster coming back who will have any chance to play. Stop looking at walk ons and people who will never see the field.

Three more commits brings us to eight total.

That would give us 10 WR total and TAMU already has that much on roster and committed. Cam is going to run a lot of 3 and 4 WR sets, getting guys on the field. He has about as good a chance to start here as well as at TAMU since size can't be taught.

We'll have to play freshmen WRs next year. We'll have a juco transfer senior that's played about 10 garbage time snaps, a sophomore, and the rest RS and true freshmen.

He also has lots of potential at receiver. After a year or two. Either position he might need a redshirt, but the learning curve at receiver would be easier for him.

I hope so. Imagine the mismatch he could bring. Though he could always lose a few pounds if need be. It's not like he has to keep gaining weight. Plus the depth chart at TE is looking good with the addition of Jacory. We have two good blocking TE's who can catch, and two younger TE's with amazing hands.

Most of the talk about Chark playing DB or Upchurch at TE/H-Back/RB came after people starting freaking out about us taking too many receivers. That isn't a problem anymore. We're losing Landry, Beckham, Boone, and Wright. That opens up a lot of room for the younger guys to compete for good playing time.
