Just curious how often this comes up. I seem to remember it coming up at Arkansas a few years ago now.

Reason I ask is that Jackson Jeffcoat (5 Star DE) is a major recruit this season, and wouldn't ya know it his father is interviewing at Oklahoma.

Maybe his dad would have gotten that job on his own, I don't really know much about the guy other than he was the d-line coach at Houston(not exactly known for their defense).

If the kid was going to go to Oklahoma anyway, then that's one thing and I'd wish him well, it just strikes me as wrong to interview the dad 2 weeks before signing day.

It's totally legal and pretty common right now, but the NCAA is trying to curb it and may try to control the practice a bit in the next few years.

Does seem sorta' grimy, doesn't it. This absolutely throws a wrench in the Merit System.

I can't remember, it's part of why I posted here. I wanted to know if anyone knew of similar circumstances.

Again if the kid goes to ou, good for him and I hope he plays well. It just seems a really questionable tactic to me.

Arkansas hired Gus Malzahn (now OC at Auburn) who had been Mustain's HS coach.

Happens all the time:

Frank Wilson was pimping Buster Davis and Darryl Johnson.

Malazahan was pimping Mustain, Damien Williams, Ben Cleveland, and Alex Tejada.

Its becoming pretty common.

Hell, didn't Ole Miss hire Michael Oher's high school coach? The dude was an utter horrible coach too.

From what I understand, is Jim Jeffcoat was #2 on OUs list when they hired Chris Wilson. I think it would be a good hire, plus Jacksons sister is already enrolled at OU.

supposedly, Jeffcoat interviewed in Austin and Norman this week. Sumlin fired the DC at UH a few weeks ago so there's no reason Coach Jeffcoat shouldn't interview around.

I thought I read somewhere that the NCAA had actually passed a rule on this within the last week or two where you can't hire someone having any type of relation to a player within like 2 years of his recruitment. I think the example they gave was Kentucky hiring John Wall's AAU coach to lure him in.
