Lorenzo and Deion Jones: the future of LSU's linebackers

LORENZO PHILLIPS

quote:

. Here’s what high school coach Tommy Minton told Tiger Rag about Phillips in October: “He’s very physical. That’s one of his strengths - he doesn’t shy away from contact. He’s always around the action.” Although the player is currently coming back from a knee injury, Phillips is expected to make a full recovery and eventually compete for time at LSU.

DEION JONES

quote:

“I’m definitely excited about how things are going and the choice I ended up making now,” the Jesuit player told Tiger Rag. “I mean who would want to pass that up? This is my hometown school and I know a ton of Jesuit graduates who went on to attend LSU. LSU is just where you are supposed to go, man. The familiarity will be nice of course. In the end it was just Tiger Stadium and I’m from Louisiana. It just fits.”

I can't wait for these guys to be starting in a couple years. There is going to be some nasty collision from these defenders. This is the type of foundation that every elite program needs. Not the 5 stars, the 4 and 3 stars who are out to prove people wrong. There is no better place to put these guys than in a position to hit someone full speed. Chief has his LBing corp of the future. He must be excited. Tack on some beef on the OL, speed and length at WR and CB. I think this class is going to surprise some people.

I think all the negative posters are mainly disappointed in the Gunner situation, LC was expected by most that had been paying attention. This is a good class, in terms of future starters and solid contributors.
