miles' first class had the rj jackson/lafell duo (and kyle anderson from the woodlands)

lsu will always have a presence in the area, ton of alumni(including former players and family) and fans in the area. we've got coaches on staff like brick and henry who have recruited the area and im pretty sure mcgaughey is a houston guy. plenty of talent for lsu, texas, a&m, oklahoma, etc. to land good players.

It is very rare that I see kids wearing gear from SEC schools other than Texas A&M and LSU.

I have a family member that is a coach at a Houston ISD HS and he tells me, at least at his school, Bama gets a lot of play. His POV was their school was about a 3-way split between A&M/UTx/Bama with schools like LSU and Auburn behind and no one caring about any other Big 12 schools.

Apparently a big reason is Bama has been offering in-state tuition to a lot of kids that can't get into the Texas state schools because of the 8% rule.

Yes being from the Houston area i think its safe to say DFW killed Houston area in the state playoffs this year

it's not really a fair comparison. Schools like Allen and Southlake are twice the size of most Houston area schools. They also recruit like mofos. More prospects come from Houston but there are better teams in DFW. Both are pretty talent rich though and LSU has a decent presence in both cities

LSU and a lot better following in Houston than Dallas...Also Dallas is a football town, Houston is very strong in Baseball, hence 11/12 last state titles... There are a lot more athletic directors down here that are not football coaches where as in Dallas almost all AD's are the Head football coach. Houston has massive High Schools, Im in Katy, in West Houston, alot of our athletes just arent playing anymore, they are doing other things like X-game stuff.(I saw a 6'5 230lb kid riding skateboards and wearing skinny jeans and not playing football or basketball... The culture is shifting in Houston, kids are just weird... where as Dallas the suburb kids are still normal..

Katy is in no way a small school, but Allen is only 10-12th grade and they basically funnel what should be multiple schools into it. Despite only 3 grades they have 4400 students so about 1500/class. Katy only has 2800 students spread across 4 grades so about 700/class. It's a massive advantage. Pearland is at least closer in size but still only about 900/class.

I get what you're saying but
Houston has it's fair share of large schools. @ one point I know Elsik & Hastings were both over 4000. The Cypress area schools all sit around or over 3500. League City schools were pushing 3600. The woodlands is close to 4000. Lamar, Westide, all the Katy schools are about 3000 or more.

yea, there is a clear advantage in allen and southlake, but if you cant find 85 players in a school with 3000 kids means, they kids aint playing football anymore...i coach in houston and have worked at many of the schools listed above...fact is kids are doing other things...Pearland/Northshore/Spring Dekany/Lamar are all very large...

and yes Dallas owned houston this year...my dads school lost the State title game...

Yeah looks like Tony Upchurch and his family/friends are big LSU fans. Make sense since he shut down his recruitment right after committing last year. No other schools even had a chance.

Upchurch is a pretty good ball player too. He had a great jr year. Sr year he was quieter because of lack of talent around him in my opinion. He good size, quick for his size and pretty good hands

Since Addai and Shephard? The area was always LSU friendly, but it seems to have dried up of late. Hoping Nacho changes that, but just got to thinking I haven't noticed anyone in a while.

Brockers turned out OK.

Houston may have a better LSU following, but the DFW area has I believe the 2nd largest OOS LSU alum presence behind only Houston & ATL.

Just sayin...

But,but,but....LSU simply HAS to play huge OOC games in Dallas/Atl and now Houston, otherwise we would never great any great players from those areas ! LOL...NOT
Those games are just a huge money grab and nothing more !
