You mean Jamel Cook? I mean, if you're going to make a thread about a recruit, the least you can do is spell his name right.

ETA - GG beat me to it.

I just read this myself over on the 247sports Death Valley forum.

This sucks bigtime if true, we really could use another hard hitting safety, because Jamal Adams is most likely gone for sure after next season.

Monroe will likely be the free safety in a couple of years after Adams goes top 10 in the draft.

I like Monroe, but what he doesn't bring to the table is the 6'4" height that Cook does.

Maybe the fact Cook might not be coming for an official visit means Deontay Anderson might be more interested in joining the good guys.

Height hasn't messed up Adams. Not sure your point is as valid for safeties.

Height over 6'0" isn't a requirement to be great at the position, but there have been some safeties that have had it, such as Gary Barbaro, Kenny Easley, Steve Atwater, and Dennis Smith that were all at least 6'3" tall. I don't think anybody can argue that those guys weren't all very good players.

Height at the safety position is needed in order to cover tight ends like Gronk. He walks all over shorter safeties generally speaking.

Since there's so many Gronks in the SEC. Heck, NCAA for that matter.

2 of our best and more recent safeties have been Adams and Mathieu and they aren't that tall. Just saying, height isn't a big requirement for safeties.
