I guess his academics are in order, he just got an offer from Harvard.

And speaking of Delpit, FWIW... Jimmy Smith wrote this last week:

quote:

Wilson is friends with Delpit and the two would like to play together. A source extremely close to both told me that if LSU locks up Delpit, it's all but over with Wilson.

ETA: In the interest of accurate info, Jimmy S. added this in a recent chat:

tcgallo

I read a while back that Delpit and Wilson were close to a package deal. Is this true and how do we stand with both?

@tcgallo I may have overreached on that a bit, due to the information I was initially given; however, having one will help with the other. Certainly not a package deal, though, if I made it seem that way.

247 definitely has this kid a lot closer to his deserving ranking. How anyone can watch that and see anything lower than a top-15 safety is beyond me

LAS VEGAS - One of the most impressive defensive prospects at the entire Pylon 7on7 National Championships on Saturday was safety Grant Delpit out of Houston (Texas) Lamar. The 6-3, 185-pounder showed great length, range and instincts throughout the afternoon and validated what is becoming an extensive offer list.

Update from Jimmy on 4* safety Grant Delpit.

The LSU Spring Game has become one of the Tigers' biggest recruiting weekends and it is lining up to be much of the same this year. Prospects from around the country are planning to make the trip to Baton Rouge on April 16, including Texas safety Grant Delpit, who is one of LSU's top priorities in the class. Delpit will be making that trip with his Team Texas Elite 7-on-7 team for a tournament in New Orleans.

While that trip will certainly work in LSU's favor, the weekend prior to the spring game may end up being more valuable to the Tigers in regards to landing the sought after safety. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound New Orleans native is expected to visit LSU the weekend before the spring game with his entire family, which includes his grandparents, as the Tigers look to extend its lead, according to a source. The two parties have grown fond of each other, with LSU linebacker coach Bradley Dale Peveto and defensive backs coach Corey Raymond leading the charge.

He may shut it down after his USC visit this weekend.

A few analyst thought he was the best defensive prospect at the Nola Opening regional.
