I didn't think you could redshirt a player that is not eligible to participate in athletics due to transfers rules

Honestly I don't know. I'm not sure where he's leaning.

Florida is also in on him. Should be interesting to see where he ends up, pretty good player.

Yes, you can. When you sit out a year as a transfer, you can use your redshirt if you haven't burned it already.

Dude, for real? Going pro isn't some inevitability. He still needs to earn it. It's worth the risk if we have the space and don't have anyone in line for next year. It's like taking on a JUCO guy who isn't expected to be a full time starter out the gate.

This would be a great addition!!

What do you think you read? I didn't say or imply that it was inevitable. The post I responded to was rhapsodizing about 2019 and I said I wouldn't bet on it. That means it's not a sure thing, not inevitable.
I'm damn well familiar with the transfer rules and never said it wouldn't be a good idea to take him, especially since there appears to be some extra scholarships available. If he plays two years, great. But if he has a degree after the 2018 season and thinks he can be drafted reasonably high, it would be foolish to expect him to stay.
