Five year degree

It takes five years for a lot of people to get a degree. This is especially true if you have a serious major in mind and can't take 21 hours a semester during football season.
So here is my question. If you do not redshirt and you use up your eligibility but still need the 5th year to graduate do you pay this on your one dime, when the guy that redshirted has his fifth year paid for?

If you were serious about getting a major degree like engineering or something then you would plan ahead of time. Yes the guy with the fifth year of eligibility gets his paid for if he's on scholarship still.

Each programs also gets a certain number of summer scholarships to give to players who need. This is typically used for players who are at risk of not passing the requisite number of credit hours in a given time frame for eligibility issues, but would also be used for cases such as this when available/possible
ETA: You also have to remember that the NCAA has rules that require a student athlete to have completed a certain percentage of required credit hours for their chosen major. That percentage changes each year (I forgot the exact percentages, its been a while), So this really keeps players on track to graduate. Its not just what grades they are getting, but they have to be completed a standard number of hours per each academic year.

Jordan Jefferson is in school this Semester, so the scholarship is for 5 years, I guess, or until they graduate?
