with the commitment of curry and the heat on joiner, do the #'s force out franklin? are they still waiting for his test scores? is he worth the wait in y'alls opinion?

We can't afford to wait IMO. Not saying he isn't a take because he is all day. Test scores and qualifying is a big deal.

He won't qualify
Honest question: whats the down side in taking him if you're 90% sure he wont qualify... ??? You can act accordigly knowing hes likely not to gonna make it
If by some miracle he does qualify you obviously want him right?

word on the street is that he's gonna matriculate in the maymester courses at the JT Curtis-Saban-Lacy school of academic achievement.

If he qualifies and wants to be at LSU, he will have a spot. Someone will get bumped.

Downside is that other running backs won't commit here if he's committed to lsu
Posted on 6/23/17 at 10:16 am to jcole4lsu
offer him a preferred walk on if he qualifies

Lol yes they will.. T-rob is known to play all of his backs during a game and nearly every decent rated RB to come to LSU has started or gotten a decent amount of snap. Quite a few are still getting 2nd or 3rd RB spots or are the feature back for teams in the league who weren't starters at LSU. Plus the past two feature backs went number 4 in the draft in LF and guice who hell could win the damn heisman and go very high in the draft! We have some damn good selling points and these kids will eat it up!

Thats a pretty weak excuse for not offering him considering LSU's history of RB platoons and their NFL success....

It may be but running backs aren't exactly lining up to commit here at the moment, prestige or not
Didn't land anyone last year because they all knew they'd be sitting behind guice. Competition is a real factor

Not anymore with T-rob lol trust me there are some very good backs interested in LSU right now and one of them committed yesterday!

What's the deal with Tony? The top RB recruit from Louisiana.
Posted on 6/23/17 at 12:52 pm to Bayou_Tiger_225
AJ Carter, RB from Many committed to UCLA, just got offered
Posted on 6/23/17 at 12:59 pm to Dlab2013
Has always liked LSU just waiting on an offer! Expect him to jump on it

Speed with Valentine and 2 power guys with Curry and Carter if he flips. Franklin might be SOL or would LSU take 4 RBs?
Sorry I'm at the beach and for some reason was thinking Valentine committed.

They'd have to make room for franklin. He's damn good
Posted on 6/23/17 at 1:45 pm to redfieldk717
No way they pass on Franklin if he qualifies. Someone else will be SOL.

My original want for the rb class was Franklin and Deontay Ingram from Texas.
This class needs 2 rbs but I don't really want 4 rb in this class because I would prefer to take 3 next year.
We will see how it all works out.

I disagree and for two reasons.
1. Sure we didn't land Akers partly because of this, but the real truth is that Louisiana has been down at RB. CEH is a vastly underrated, but outside of him the RBs in Louisiana were/are mediocre for 2017 and 2018 classes talent wise. Devin White was a beast 2016 recruit at RB, but everybody could see how ridiculous he'd be at LB. LSU usually loads up on RBs from Louisiana as they got two 4 or 5 star RBs in 09, 11, 14, and 15. Outside of Spencer Ware, the prestige factor didn't bring a top RB outside of the state.
2. The second is that we signed Williams (a 4 star RB) in the same class as number one overall recruit and RB Fournette. After Fournette's 1150+ yard (1700+ all purpose) 11+ TD freshman season and Williams 300+ yard 3 TD freshman year, we sign the #5 (should have been #1) overall RB in Guice and the #16 RB, 4 star top 200 recruit Brossette in the same class the next year. Obviously they didn't care about playing behind that duo. Hell Devin White wanted to play at LSU as a RB even after seeing LF break records and Guice average over 8 yards per carry with 400+ yards.
