I know he red shirted last year, but everytime i read something about our safety position being wide open his name seems to be over looked...wasnt he the #1 safety in the 2016 class? I hear jacoby stevens name more than monroe's, am i missing something here?

It's relatively normal for guys to slip out of the collective consciousness of the fanbase when they red shirt. And for guys in the most recent recruiting class to be hyped up as immediate impact guys, just because they've talked about more recently.

You know guys in here like to talk about the newcomers more than any guy already on the depth chart.

Hope Monroe balls out.

Wasn't Ed Paris a highly regarded and recruited safety?

Now he's sitting at Corner?

We're not called DBU for no reason. This secondary is crowded.

To me, people forgot about Andre Anthony. Granted it was a different reason for not playing, he is a name I expect to see a lot of this season. It is natural for this to happen from year to year at a highly touted program with lots of talent.

Half the fanbase thinks we don't have a single other capable back on the roster past Guice and has entirely forgotten about Brossette.

I like Xavier Lewis in the Dwayne Thomas role. Don't sleep on him either. Good ball skills and a great tackler. He's my pick for surprise player of the year.

Truth. But even our nickelbacks and backups are starting corners in the NFL.

Eric Monroe has a shot to start, I just Dont see Ed Paris being the starting safety. His coverage and takling skills is suspect imo.

Word on the skreets is that Monroe has been lights out in practice. I expect him and Battle will play alot. Delpit will be special too. I see him playing early.

You know you're DBU when the fan base forgets the #1 Safety they signed last year because everybody is talking about the #1 Safety they signed this year.

We have a TON of players that could bust out in the next 2-3 years.

Monroe was injured and missed the majority of fall practice leading to his redshirt I believe. It wasn't that he wasn't talented enough to contribute.

Monroe is a total stud and all around safety. I am from the Houston area and he balled out at the highest level. While Stevens has more athletic upside. Monroe is close and can be Jamal Adams

it's sometimes like fans forget we even had a class last year.

we just don't know whos going to contribute this year and we never do (other than the top upperclass guys). how about duke riley; he seemed to come from nowhere.

Well to be fair I think they will play at different positions Monroe and Stevens but you're right happens every year. If Stevens is mentally ready to go he will play in some role for sure, he could play WR or be the new jet sweep man, punt return, kick return. IMO Monroe is more of a SS and Stevens is more of a FS but that can change as of right now that's where they would play IMO. Stevens is a talented athlete with superb ball skills. Competition will be fierce which is what you want. This defense is going to be scary good.

I keep hearing there are questions marks and there are some but IMO Aranda, O and company will have these guys ready to go. We also have Savion who coupl play some safety if need be. This back field and now our front seven is so versital which spells trouble for opposing teams going up against Aranda's scheme. Can't wait to see it all, this year will be exciting now doubt the most exciting in a long long time. I hope they put on a show for the country to see, then all the negative recruiting will look like silly recruiting talk like we all know it is. GT
