Same shite happened when Wade was fired. McMahon had zero players when he showed up.

What!? That can't be accurate. I was told that only happens when the former coach is fired due to an NCAA investigation. Well, I guess Louisville fans are just going to have to accept the fact they aren't going to be any good while it takes the new HC 15 years to rebuild. That's just the way it is.

Condescension aside, this is pretty commonplace after a coaching change. While the degrees may vary, if you fire a coach expect to lose most of the roster with it. St. John's fired Mike Anderson after last season. They lost 11 players to either graduation or transfers.

Huntley-Hatfield might be worth a look, think he has two years left and is a solid big guy.

Oh man, that means they are in for an 8-10 year rebuild according ranters.

I kid, I kid.

But it will be interesting to see how quickly or slowly they turn it around compared to LSU. I know everything isn't apple to apples with the situations but its still a nice comparison I think.

True. But they don't have the "dark cloud" hanging over the program that limited LSU to only a top 20 HS signing class and top 20 overall (HS signees and transfers combined) to deal with.

Should the expectation be for Kelsey (their new HC) to put together a completely new roster and reach the NCAA Tournament next season? No. But recent history has shown that is NOT an unfathomable possibility.

If Louisville, despite "having zero players" reaches the NCAA Tournament next season while LSU is still "building" towards the day where the number of fans at a home postseason game outnumber the amount of fans at a regular season game hoping to see a guy balance garden tools on his face at halftime then I think it will be reasonable to ask "where the hell is this program going?"

New coach will have until the 2030 recruiting class to figure out if he can recruit or not.

Are they under threat of sanctions? I know you said you're kidding, but if they aren't under sanctions, then it isn't an apples to apples comparison.

Hope that never happens at LSU. It would take four years to rebuild into a tournament team and our a-hole fans would never allow the new coach time to replenish the roster. We have the dumbest fans.

Louisville hasn’t been good for a few seasons now. I would expect a new coach full of transfers will have them as good or better. They took a step down during their investigation and received 2 years probation. They have spent 3 or so years in purgatory. Their nil efforts have increased of late from what I’ve seen.

He's pretty good, and about the only player I'd spin my wheels on from UL this past season

Louisville signed decent classes. Their HC was just terrible and in over his head. He was a guy like Johnny Jones at LSU who would not have even been considered for the job but for the fact he was a Louisville alum. Payne had been an assistant for nearly 20 years when he go the Louisville job...his first as a HC. The marketplace was telling Louisville he wasn't any good. But after being forced to fire Pitino and the absurdity of one of Chris Mack's assistant coaches trying to (criminally) extort the university and Mack, the former players and their supporters lobbied for "one of their own". He got the job...and tanked worse that anyone reasonably imagined. Not that much different than Michigan hiring Juwan Howard. Although at least Howard had a few years of benefit from the Bielin era before he tanked the program.

Kelsey has been a program rejuvenator at his last two stops. Does that mean he'll have great success at Louisville? No. But he's a hell of a lot more passionate and accomplished than a guy who was basically a 20 year bag-man for Calipari.

With Louisville's stature and support of basketball I expect Kelsey will quickly put together a decent roster.

So by your logic they will be as good as not so good.

Year 1 yes. They probably aren’t taking a step down.

Yep, he couldn't help himself once again pointing out how RIDICULOUS the amount of rope McMahon has been given to turn this program into what Wade had it, without providing any reasonable hope it will get there or better.

It also illustrates the LOSER MENTALITY that is prevalent among our fanbase that actually believes this SOB is doing a good job here.

Once again for the mouth breathers: I AM BEGGING FOR MCMAHON TO SHUT ME THE FLUCK RIGHT ON UP AND BUILD A WINNER.

I am not holding my breath waiting for this to happen though.
