the fact that this thread/discussion is still going a week later should tell you everything.

i'm not going to bash on the kid or whomever he is getting advice from. If the grey shirt/waiting is such a big issue, then why isn't he in camp with another team so he wont be behind/waiting to play?

is it about life or football?

if it's life, it's a no brainer go play for harvard, yale, stanford ect. if he can earn a athletic scholarship from lsu, ky, texas a & m, i'm sure they will offer him one too.

This thread and you in particular have told me NOTHING about his behavior that you referenced in your previous post.

R u an idiot? Whatever school he decides on will be a "life decision". It's not an either or type situation.

If he needs time to make a decision that everyone else gets their senior year to decide then who are u to judge?

You say u don't want to bash him but you are taking a lot of shots at him

Nobody knows really what Porter is thinking. If this was my kid I would not take it personally. College football is a business. I would be disappointed in the way it was handled and wonder if I could trust what the coach says again. That said I understand it's a business and LSU did what they had to do. No hard feelings. LSU pimp I was given nothing and earned every dime of my college education and graduated with no loans while serving my country. People do it everyday so what. I think this kid should approach this like a business decision and go to the school that pays all his way. It's not personal if he doesn't come to LSU. Stop crying LSU pimp. If he wants to make a business decision to have his whole scholly paid then that's his decision. The fact he hurt your feelings by not coming to LSU is not his problem.

You quote and talk within the quote and pretty much fricked up the entire post so I'm not even going to bother.

When you answer my question and actually specify this supposed "behavior" porter has engaged in maybe I'll take you serious, but untill then I'm just going to assume your talking out your arse.

That's a pretty weak argument Champ.
I've never watched his "film" attended his games and couldn't tell you who he was if I backed over him in my car.
I don't care if he comes to LSU.
I care that young people learn to handle adversity.

What I am reacting to is the pervasiveness of this victimhood mentality.
The angst created over this completely mundane event is entirely out of proportion.

The kid is getting bad advice.
Every year we get this same basic story and every year we watch these athletes flame out.
It's not an LSU issue, it's a cultural and character issue.
These pampered kids aren't mentored.
They are coddled.
They are moved forward.
They are not challenged.
This episode is proof of that.

Maybe this will help some people understand why he was asked to gray shirt.

LSU signee isn’t offered by Oregon

Defensive tackle Elliot Porter, the LSU signee who is exploring other options after being asked to grayshirt, did not receive a scholarship offer during a visit to Eugene earlier this week, according to DuckTerritory.com.

Porter toured the campus and met with UO coach Chip Kelly, but is likely headed to Texas A&M or Kentucky, according to the Duckterritory guys. They speculate that Porter’s knee, which required surgery “a few months ago,” might have been a factor in the decision by the Ducks not to offer him a scholarship.

Rob Moseley has been covering Oregon football for The Register-Guard since 2001. He provides the inside scoop on Oregon football daily during the football season, both in print and online.

Maybe Les thinks Porter needs more time to let his knee heal.

Somebody needs to familiarize the kid with the terms "burning your bridges" or "poisoning the well".

You better have option B in place before you go to the press with your complaints and undermine your current benefactor.

Again, he's getting poor counsel.

yep. i did. had to move fast and didn't do it well.

i'm just saying he's going to face bigger challenges in life than being asked to grey shirt. it's how he responds to them that will make him. so far, he's struggling with this challenge. you seem to forget he wasn't the only one asked to grey shirt, yet, he's the only controversial grey shirt. he didn't have to go spill his heart to the media. that is what i mean. no need to air dirty laundry.

you don't see me calling him names, you don't see me saying he is not a team player, and other things people have said.

The DAY this happened he gave interviews to LSU beat reporters.

That day I'm driving to Lafayette and the LSU-related sites are spinning it with Moscona.

I'm thinking, how stupid is this ?
Does this kid have a back-up plan before he starts lobbing bombs and slurring Mile's reputation ?

What "dirty laundry" has he spilled? The only stuff I've seen was him saying he is unsure of what he wants to do and he is going to visit a few schools.

In your rush to defend LSU stop attributing bad things to this kid.

ok, guy. you obviously have an agenda. you didn't even know the kid went public, yet, you try to spin the issue as me against e.p.

has it ever occurred to you that this kid is blessed? he has opportunities other kids would die to have. yet, people, like you, are trying to spin this into him being some kind of victim. This kid is blessed. he has opportunities other kids only dream of having.

look, we obviously disagree. i'm not against e.p., i haven't bashed the kid. i just don't think he's been dealt a bad deal or been wronged. sorry if that comes across as being against him. lsu isn't always right. however, this entire subject isn't about wright or wrong. it's the reality of life. everything doesn't go your way sometimes. shite happens. get over it and move on.

peace out, i'm done.

It's about pride. It's that simple. His pride was hurt.
