I remember signing day '14 being worried abt D-Line and waking up 2 landing Sione, Godchaux & Deandre then trey & travonte at DT... a great 24hrs for our line
.....Looks like a much better situation this yr with STUD DE's Logan, Anthony & Roddy already committed(Rashaan is a LB) with Manuel & Burns looking realistic then Big Ed A anchoring the inside with Lawrence & Taylor likely and Blalock, Oliver & Elliot possible, most exciting DL recruiting ive seen!

It's still opening up roster spots and less competition to even begin to compete with. It still clears their perspective. They don't have to worry over the idea of potentially losing out playing time to guys who have been around the program longer. Whether or not they contributed yet..
If you are a top defensive lineman, LSU is a dream school right now. You get to play for the best defensive lineman position coach and early playing time is a legit possibility. And you know all the other top DL players are interested in LSU and playing in a possible rotation with these guys will only make you look that much greater.. The other elite talent on the line will draw so much attention.

It's sad that if we sign only 3 of those guys, and no quality 4th, it will be a failure.
Attrition seems to strike position groups like a disease, some years. Remember that year we lost 3 or 4 OL on the 2-deep between August camp and game 5 or 6?

Well it is, but it isn't - we have to have 4 DT in 2016's class who can play - 2 of them immediately. If we only get 3, it will be a tough row to hoe.
So, I was pointing out how ludicrous it will be to get 3 of those guys and feel like a failure at recruiting position because of raw numbers and just terrible attrition at this point. Lacouture has been a pleasant surprise, but really, we've had lots of potential come through here - going back to the Freak - and very little to show for it at the position on the field.
Just my $0.02.

+1. Those guys plus any of the Oliver, Elliott, Blalock possibilities would be an amazing haul.

247 said LSU may be getting a visit from Ed Oliver soon. Maybe with Valentine and the others now gone, the coaches are selling immediate playing time. Hopefully we can flip this kid.

Someone posted it to the lsu nation page on Facebook. I'm at work on my cell and can't link it. Also saw where Manuel isn't visiting FSU this weekend and was tweeting something about Savion Smith throwing up the L's . Was going to start a thread about it but wasn't going to without being able to link. Saw these on the lsu nation page someone had screenshot the pics and posted them. Is there a way to post links on here while on cell phones?

Yes, just taking 3 DTs might be a little less than we'd like. But if those 3 come from any combo of Ed Alexander, Lawrence, Oliver, and Gary, then we got 3 studs. I most definitely wouldn't be disappointed if the 3 pure DTs we got this year were Alexander, Lawrence and Gary. That would be a phenomenal haul. Plus we already have Shelvin committed for '17 and are sitting pretty with Wilson.
