Don't care what type of offense you want, bad move by O

Brennan is a top 5 pro style QB. When the ship was sinking after les was fired, he was the glue of the class.

Even if O wants a dual threat QB, you have one already committed. You could turn your focus to 2018 dual threats.

Brennan showed loyalty to not only the program but to O. He could've easily jumped ship the minute O was hired and said hell, I don't want to play for a fricking D line coach.

Instead he still said he couldn't wait to play at lsu. What does O do? Offer the top ranked dual threat in the same class as he and narcisse and he's committed to bama.

I sure as hell hope he has a plan because that is an awful move imo from a recruiting standpoint.

Brennan going elsewhere is going to be a devastating loss for LSU.

So what is the thinking on how this played out? Given how quickly Brennan backed out after the offer, it seems like he let O know that he was planning to leave, and O reacted. Most seem to think it was the other way around.

Everyone thinks this is some kind of sign that Kiffin is coming

Kiffin wont be a OC when these kids are Jrs.

Also wasn't the draw of Kiffin that he could work an offense around whoever he had?

We have offers to many QB's. And Brennan will have QB competition anywhere he goes. Sounds like he just took it personally whenever he shouldn't have.

I tell you what, though, if this was somehow done at Kiffin's urging with the idea that he would be coming, and it ends up that we lose Brennan and Kiffin stays in Bama, O should be fired immediately for being so stupid.

He doesn't fit what they want to do.

So we bring Brennan in just to bring him in? So just lie to him?

this is the way i see it as well, we knew he was going to decommit so we offered another guy

not sure why everyone thinks its the other way around

O is the coach, the coach wants a DT QB. He is not beholden to Brennan and MB is not beholden to LSU.

CLEARLY, LSU pushed Myles out. That means they wanted him to decommit. If they want him to move on, then that means they are targeting someone else.

It is what it is. I don't like it, but at least now we have a QB recruiting strategy (DT) instead of randomness.

No. He seemed blindsided by the new offer. His reaction on twitter was not good.

Good point. Look at our QBs on the roster and who we had committed. I mean wtf.

Because MB has been as solid a commitment as you could ask for.
1. Announce we will recruit DT QBs
2. We offer Tua
3. We schedule vist with DT QB Narcisse (sent 3 coaches)
4. "Schedule" visit with MB for this week
5. Postpone MB visit another day

That's as clear as you can be without asking him to de-commit directly. You don't send 3 coaches to QB commit A and then don't even talk to QB commit B - and when you do, you push back the meeting another day - without it meaning something. O has recruiting half a dozen hall of famers, he knows what the message being sent is.

I don't like the message, but he knows what he's sending.

Well, we went after only 1 QB last year and how did that work out for us in the end? Unless Brennan is signed or on campus, you recruit the best.

We need to get back to a place where kids understand they come in a compete with whoever. Whoever works the hardest and earns it should earn outright and not be afraid of competition. We started telling too many kids they'll probably start day one. When it doesn't happen, they transfer anyway.

Since Coach Orgeron is new to recruiting and knows basically nothing, I'm sure he'll take your advice under consideration.

Kiffen has proven that he can work with more than one type of QB and work to his strengths. Coker was not great last year but Lane used him very well.
