I'm not familiar with this situation but it seems like this is Haskins connection with Maryland. If he's not retained, as it looks like they are starting their hiring process for a new HC, could he be lured to LSU as the OC.

quote:

Four-star quarterback recruit and Maryland commit Dwayne Haskins Jr. told InsideMDSports.com on Friday that he taking an official visit to Florida this weekend. Haskins, who committed to the Terps in the spring, is closely monitoring the coaching situation at Maryland but is using his official visits to review his options in case interim coach Mike Locksley is not retained. Florida had been pushing for Haskins before his commitment, but the Bullis star said "Alabama, LSU and Florida are always talking to me." Haskins was adamant that he's "100 percent committed" to the Terps.

First sell me on hiring Mike Locksley as OC, then we can talk about the Haskins connection.

good to know. maybe LSU has a shot. UF and Alabama have their QB situations wrapped up for a long time with franks and barnett

Best thing on his resume besides being a great recruiter, he was the OC/QB coach at Illinois when they had Juice Williams and Rashad Mendenhall.

OMG check out New Mexico Lobo football blogs and news articles on the disaster he created there when he was head coach. Not just on the field with a 3-33 record but off as well. Lots of choices as OC but this should never be one.

I was just answering the OP....I don't want him at all. I would rather hire Patterson's tool brother to be a GA and take Shea. We can get a really talented OC if we act now.

Wasn't his brother already a GA for LSU and left to go to OM?

All that tells me is that the OC/Interim will be gone and Haskins will likely be back on the market. This is our chance!

Go hire Tyson Helton who turned Joe Webb at UAB into a dual threat nightmare, and Brandon Doughty into a passing giant.

Helton shows him the type of offense he ran at Western Kentucky, he folks meet with the nice man Miles, and let's wrap this up!

No need to go after anymore QBs this year if we can get Haskins.

I live in Albuquerque and, believe me, we want to stay as far away from Locksley as possible. He set UNM football back a decade, they are just now recovering. I can't remember his exact record but I think he only won a couple of games in 3 or 4 years....stay away, far away!!

Mike Locksley as OC

Maryland's total offense ranks while he was OC

2012: 120th
2013: 75th
2014: 109th
2015: 87th

Yes, he would be an excellent hire and fit right in with what we expect from our offense

If we like him as an OC that just means Les wont hire him.

Maybe he goes to Florida and Franks gets scared and runs back to LSU.

This is probably the more likely scenario of the two. But neither are happening.

Locksley looks to be leaving Maryland with the Durkin hire. Their fans are somewhat upset about it. Wouldn't be surprised to see Haskins de-commit soon.

Also rumors that Eason will flip to UF.

Found this on one of the Maryland boards. Haven't seen any of their mods respond to it.

Hey Jeff, can you check w/your sources in the south about the validity of a Locksely to LSU rumor floating around?
