Do we still keep Bates and Evans if the new defensive coordinator doesn’t keep Steeples?

I think we need to clean house on defense but I do like the two corners that Steeples got in Bates and Evans.

Bates has so much upside. Hopefully he’s committed to the program and not the coach.

By the time he moves on from college, the odds of any current position coach being at the school he chooses is slim.

Link? Not being a dick with that question. Legitimately trying to figure out if this is coming from somewhere reliable or we are just projecting.

Maybe you keep steeples and pair him with a safety/pg coordinator that is a top lvl recruiter.

I feel like steeples is like a highly anticipated hs recruit who has flashed some talent but overall hasn't lived up to what we thought. Not sure if he will or not, but I do feel like he has the potential to do really well under a better pairing than cooks.

Keep Steeples. Our corners (granted they were experienced) improved throughout last season. Look what he’s working with this year.

Replace Cooks among others

I think Steeples will be a good one in a few years but he is still learning on the job but I think he will be a good recruiter.

It's not. Right now it's just a long shot dream for any fan who doesn't like House

Josh Pate indicated on his podcast earlier this week that he expected some defensive coaching changes in the offseason. It was just a passing comment though so not sure if he was trying to break news or anything.

I think Steeples is a fine coach and recruiter. I want him to stay.

Cooks needs to go and we need a great DL coach that can also recruit. Assuming House stays.

Yeah, I dont get the steeples hate. He has recruited well and his corners seem to be in position.

I don’t see this as a groundbreaking comment. We know the DL coach who is recovering most likely isn’t back, and when they make a new hire there, Jenkins isn’t come back, so that’s three roster moves right there.

I doubt House gets canned. He’s working with some talent, but also massive holes at key positions (I.e. zero edge setting / pass rush, no safeties that can cover CF, and a group of corners who can’t read). House hasn’t been able to shore up everything, but stability in the roster will help with players learning the defense, but there needs to be an infuse of talent too.

What the hell are you talking about? Everyone this off season was scared House would be scooped up for a head job. The Defense has 2 bad weeks and now we are betting he’s gone at the end of the year?? Let the season play out first chief.

Are you also assuming that he has one of the greatest midseason tournarounds in history, or that AD is ok with 20k empty seats every game?
