Interesting to take a look at our starters and backups right now on the Dline. Lacouture was a 3 star and currently is probably our best DLmen. Herron was rated in the top 5 at his position (4 I think) as a DE and was thought to be a potential 5 star after the AA game and he is still a backup ( I know at DT instead of DE but still). Greg Gilmore was a top 10 DT ( I wanna say around #5 depending on the site) and he's a backup. Godchaux was a highly recruited 4 star but injured almost entire senior year- starts as FR. Deondre Clark- top 10 DE 4 star (backup)
Lewis Neal- 37th ranked DE 3 star (presumed starter). Herron and Gilmore had a lot of hype. Hoping they produce as backups this year. Never thought these two would be the ones we really need to have a good year as a backup in their 3rd year

We previously had a development issue - I don't blame the guys or their talent.

Coach O has developed some great talent, and he will get the most out of the guys he has now. Development and technique will not be an issue with Coach O.

At the end of the day, Brick and Chavis weren't pulling their weight on the recruiting trail and our front 7 is 1-2 injuries away from it getting bad. As a matter of fact, if both would've stayed, we'd be one year away from total disaster bc there is no way those 2 could pull the talent that coach O and Steele are about to.
If Sumlin was as smart as the Aggies thought, he'd left Chavis in BR and watched us die from our lack of talent. Les's biggest fault is that he waits until things are beyond broke before he fixes it. He's lucky Sumlin helped him make this move bc we were 1 season away from not having typical LSU talent on our front 7.

I think the argument for that can be made. Maybe give him a slight edge with a year experience over Godchaux.

However, I personally think Godchaux is the best.

Bower did play in every game last year, but his impact was no where as close as the interior guys.

Godchaux had a great season as a true FR. He's a really good player and I think he will get even better. But many times the other team was double teaming lacouture allowing Godchaux to have more one on one matchups. Ask around Lacouture is tough to handle. He has looked dominant early on this camp as well. Big strong and fast

You must be clueless about football and LSU football. Godchaux without question.

U must be Lacouture cousin or something. Godchaux is a beast. Personally, I don't think it's even debatable about who is the better player.

The two of them really remind me of the Williamns/Wroten pairing inside. Let's hope they wind up that good.
