Seeing as how there is a good chance that Dexter Blackmon will be the DT recruit in this class (although I'm not discounting the chance of Brandon Jackson completely) it would be nice if he were eligible. I first heard that he was very close to being eligible and that it was only a matter of time. More recently, I have heard that he has a ways to go and the chances are not looking good.

Anyone know about his grades?

I have heard it's a concern

Quiet frankly if we don't get a surprise, I am ready to call the DL class a complete failure.

I don't know what the heck happened, but we lost Hardick, and Marsh, missed on Copeland, Smith, Ego, and now this Blackmon kid may not qualify, and is a diamond in the rough (hope) type of recruit as it is.. noone offered him but us

I love LSU...and support the coaches, but I give them an F...on this position of great need thus far.

I am ticked off

Jordan Allen is still committed. Don't forget Bates either.

From what I've seen of Brandon Jackson this year, I believe he will be a DT at LSU.

While I agree that the DL recruiting has been a disappointment, I do not think that it totally the fault of the LSU coaching staff. But, they have made some mistakes in strategy.

I believe that this years DL recruiting issues combined for the "Perfect Storm" and not in a good way.

DE: There was only one. I repeat, only one highly rated DE prospect in the state. That is not the fault of the LSU coaches. But what is their fault, is the concentrating so much energy on recruits outside of our main recruiting base. Should have targeted Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida more.

DT: There were quite a few lower rated, marginal DT recruits in Louisiana this year. Some may develope to be good players, some not so much. The two best DT prospects in the state do not have the grades. Once again, that is not the fault of the LSU coaches. But what is their fault, is the concentrating so much energy on recruits outside of our main recruiting base. Should have targeted Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida more.

From the recruiting boards, this one included. I am upfront in saying I have no way to validate the concerns, which is why I am seeking info from someone that may actually know something concrete. There is smoke about his grades from a variety of sources.

I'm sure a lot of this stuff feeds on itself and multiplies across boards. I doubt anyone outside of Selma really knows anything, unless a coach has leaked something.

Certainly makes last year's great haul of Brockers, Davenport, Logan, Downs, and Montgomery much bigger. And hold the "they didn't even make the two deep" crap. Freshman D-lineman that come in and contribute their frosh year are rare at LSU, and we had one last class.

I think our coaches made the right play trying to get who they could OOS since the very few DL prospects in Louisiana remained true to LSU. But let's be very thankful for next year's in-state potential.

You have to imagine that people who lose their cool about losing commits aren't our coaches THANK GAWD.

If Nick Jacobs keeps gaining weight, can we put him on the DL.

He would be a big and fast D Lineman.
At 6'5" it would be hard from him to stay lower than the OL but he would be a beast down there at 290 with his quickness.

Hagans can move back as well...and there were reports that Travis Dickson was just as strong a prospect at DE as TE.

We need to recruit D-LINEMAN that are good enough to stay on the D-LINE.
Davenport and Allen going to O-LINE! Here we are in desperate need of DTs and look what we have.

Yes, this is a coaching failure.

What happens if we lose Zack Lee the QB of this class????
