Miles thinks we need a punter so I guess we need him. Hes very highly ranked by the punter/kicker rater guy so he seems legit.

If Lee starts again next year our punter could be our best friend

The kicking game is not important. Yeah right dumbass. Hmmm We could of won with a few better kicks. People just need to watch the saints and think about is kicking important.

:epicfail:

Clearly when we throw picks on third down, we don't need a punter....

I'm curious to see what kind of attrition we have with our kickers after the season. If you throw in Helton, how many will be on scholly? Do you think we consolidate the position some and open up a couple of spots that way?

jasper, crutchfield, and helton

and the career leader in points, David, was just a walk on. we really struck big on him. ive seen some pretty unreliable kickers in the SEC over the years.

Is that the Alleman kid? I'm not sure if that's how you spell his name. Wasn't he told he'd be given a scholarship if he got on the field?

yes

i was told (by a completely unreliable source so this may be utterly wrong) that the coaches "corrected" a flaw in his mechanics and he lost his big leg

I knew a kid in high school who worked hard all one summer on his kicking. He was averaging 45 to 50 yds from the line of scrimage punting the ball. Hang time 4 to 4.5 seconds. I watched him kick the ball over 70 yards in the air a number of times. When he got to fall practice that yer
one of his coaching did not like his mechanics. He went from 40 to 50 yds to 35. Sometimes the coaches screw up. If the kid was kicking so well? Why did they mess with him?

For a punter the only thing I could see changing would be the need to get the punt off in time...For a placekicker, I guess it would be the need to get the ball up quickly. If a kid is kicking good (distance) but isn't doing these things, the mechanics would still have to be adjusted. I'm not saying that this applies to any particular situation, I'm just throwing it out there.
