If you want them both here, Frank can coach WRs, he did it at UT and Porter can coach RBs. Like another poster said, I like the rotation of RBs post Porter more than when Porter was here. Obviously that would include getting rid of Billy, but Frank and Larry are both better recruiters than Billy. The only question at that point would be, is Frank a better WR coach than Billy?

Didn't McKnight text Wilson during his official to LSU and call Porter "fake"

he did text that to someone but I cant remember who, it wasn't Orgeron at Ole Miss?

"your boy porter is so fake" - I think that was the quote tossed around.

That's it. A buddy and I still toss that one around anytime Porter is on TV.

I think losing Gonzales is a bad move. he was a big part of us getting Miller and Johnson this year. I'd love having the stronger Texas presence Porter could offer, but I think our current staff is extremely good without him.

it was Mcarthy, but he did have an excellent eye for talent.I would say he was a hell of a recruiter as well but who knows since he got caught giving benefits to kids. I know our Texas recruiting hasn't been the same without Henson and Mcarthy

Josh Henson was great at LSU and is doing a wonderful job at Missouri! However, I'm sorry to say, but DJ sucked at recruiting!!! Nice guy yes, other than that, he had no idea what in the hell he was doing! This is not hearsay, I know first hand from experience!

Maybe so. I think LSU has likely more reason to do with him coming than a WR coach.

Johnson this year

Talk about giving a guy credit for something he had literally nothing to do. Avery is coming to LSU because of his brother, not a shitty WR coach.

Yea I miss Henson he was a very good coach. I just remember under Mcarthy's name there was a list of players name's that he supposedly recruited according to Rivals but unlike you I don't know firsthand so.. So was Henson doing the recruiting or Porter in his areas?

Do you really think Wilson is going to go coach WRs to make room for Porter? You realize Wilson had no WR experience before he got to Tenn? He even said something along the lines he had to get help that offseason on how to coach WRs. Do you think he is going to step to WRs when he is a natural RB coach? Why should he risk his career doing that? Especially for a coach who has LSU under investigation again thanks to the Lyles connection. Which Porter was partly responsible for.

Comparing Henson & Porter are like apples & oranges! I have nothing bad to say about either! I think they both did great jobs at LSU. Different styles to say the least, but both very good at recruiting!
But to answer your question I think they both worked their areas well, then covered DJ's if needed. DJ just had no clue what was going on, ever!

why you think that?
Hard feelings over McKnight's recruitment (and others), as well as Shea D. and Mike S. have insinuated as much.

I'm with you on Gonzo. I am not ready to see him go yet now that he has started putting a dent in Florida recruiting. Our TX connection is our new special teams coach Thomas McGaughey by the way. He has a background in Houston and Krags probably still has a few connections from his days with TAMU.

Our receivers are finally playing well too. The downfield blocking by the WRs has really improved this year.

I didnt say I thought it would happen, nor did I say Frank would be ok with it. Just speculating.

no. but the more experience you have at different positions makes you more valuable as a future OC... ie Les Miles

Doubtful. Miller loves the country life style around the BR area and Johnson is coming because of his brother. Most players come here because of Miles. Miller also likes that both his head coach and offensive coordinator are former offensive linemen
