A source close to the situation tells 247Sports that the Rebels have moved to the top next to LSU for the future U.S. Army All-American’s signing day signature. Ranked by the 247Composite as the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker, Garrett took his official visit to Ole Miss over the weekend, his second time seeing Oxford. The same source says one of the reasons why Ole Miss has shot up the list for Garrett is because his parents were impressed. Before the trip, Garrett’s parents still had several questions regarding the Rebels program. 247Sports caught up with Garrett’s mother about the visit. "I think it was a good visit," Katrina Garrett said. "I learned a lot more about the institution. Great people, great environment. "He would definitely fit in well with that program."

This was after he came to Oxford

If we don't get another visit he is all LSU but if we get one more visit I feel like we can take him :)

I think he'll be a leader of the defense from day one. Great prospect who seems like a bright young man

I'm sure he enjoyed his visit to Oxford but his predictions are still 100% and that's without getting a visit yet. He's coming to LSU.

Holding out hope for CG is like our fans holding out hope on Nkemdiche last year when everyone knew he was going to Ole Miss

FIFY.

That said, CG clearly is LSU's to lose.

Clifton has already names us his leader once in spring and had been on campus twice

He is all LSU right now though

Great news, but let's please ease up on the expectations on any true freshman. Haven't we learned anything from the defensive struggles this year? Herron, Bower, Neal, Beckwith, Bain, etc were all supposed to step in this year and 'we wouldn't miss a beat. Just not often fair to the kids.

Sorry, off my soap box. Carry on.

actually, no they weren't. Also, how do you justify to the coach playing them over anybody on the DL and trust me, I know the DL has looked like crap.

Everybody expected Freak and Ego to be way better than they're playing. We also expected Welter to be gone by game 4, and Barrow not play like crap. It's the juniors and seniors who have disappointed us, not the new lot. I really hope Garrett can lock down the side opposite Kwon and that Beckwith can start over Welter at least by week 5.

What can Garrett learn observing Welter? How to be out of position and have opponents run by you over half the time? I would hope Lamar Louis would be ready to make a serious bid at a starting LB post next season, if not sooner.

I hope Garrett is ready to go, but being realistic it is very difficult for even most 5 star recruits to start immediately as true freshmen.
