How far away is he from really contributing for LSU?? Does he really need a RS to develop??

All linemen should take a RS, unless they are some freak of nature.

I agree no freshman OL should play unless ther team is really in a bind or is a freak of nature.

just about all freshmen should redshirt...OL and QB probably a little more than other positions because it all starts with them and the timing is crucial.

Ya'll remember Big Ben Wilkerson who started a center as a true freshman. If he is a road-grader like Fluker, we might see him on the field.

I can't recall a true freshman OL that was viable in the SEC. Just doesn't happen

Faulk is most likely to get minor PT in 2010, and have the most legit chance at starting in 2011

You've gotta figure that he'll be groomed to be the next RT after Barksdale if in fact Greg Shaw is the LT in waiting. With Barksdale only being a junior next year, I'm sure the coaches would love to have Faulk redshirt this season, platoon at both tackle positions as a RS freshman, and start at RT as a RS sophomore.

Andre Smith was pretty good as a freshman, but he is a freak.

Probably the best, most complete O-line recruit of the past decade in my humble opinion.

actually, I almost used him as an example to say even Andre Smith didn't factor as a freshman.. I recall the LSU game in 2006 and was at the Florida game, and Smith wasn't an impact in either and was beaten regularly

I don't think many 18yos can withstand much of the SECs D-Lines through a season... the OT position may be 2nd to only QB as far as the offensive position where experience is undeniably a big part of consistant success

that makes sense. I have been more impressed with Shaw than any of the backups in mop-up duty

But Faulk is being labeled as a blindside tackle prospect, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him on the left side when he works into the rotation

Faulk may have a chance to start as a RS frosh or true soph if RT Barksdale were to go pro after 2009 since LT Black is a senior.

If Faulk is as close to as good as Barksdale from the start, he might become a backup this year and see enough time to move in as a starter in 2010.
