man, this guy screams probation with his "manager". sounds a lot like the Reggie Bush situation...except an SEC school would get hammered unlike USC.

They have 0 proof in the reggie bush case because the court records are sealed. Any SEC school would be in the exact same position. But yes it is a shady situation

I was going to say it before you did. $5 million a year is pocket change to them.

I am told the team salary cap is 4 mil. So, the 5 mil per year does not add up, if that is true.

The max I could see them offering with that kinda cap is around $200,000. He could probably make close to that at many colleges.

In that article he states for 5 million he would sign. Well good luck that salary cap for a CFL team is 4.2 million per year. Each team will be fined a dollar for dollar if over the salary cap.

Totally agree, the CFL would not pay anyone $5 mill/year.
I would doubt if there was an owner in the league that is making much of a profit, let alone to give that kind of money to someone who has never even been heard of in Canada.

it would be one thing if it was a household name, but a high school player from the US would draw zero additional people.

He better make sure he's not getting paid in Canadian currency. He better request payment in gold or swiss francs.

I think that says more about the fricking clown BB has calling the shots than anything.

"WE WILL GO TO THE CFL FOR....FOR...5 MILL A YEAR"

just listened to a segment on ESPN radio and they just talked about how it seemed very unlikely that he'd go to CFL and instead he'd probably end up deciding to go to Miami in a month or so.

well, it is a very interesting proposition. Colleges pimp these athletes for Millions of dollars every year. They use them up and spit them out. Even though I think it would be a bad move to jump to the cfl. I can kind of see where the handler is saying. I thought amateurs couldn't have managers.

yeah, they get "pimped out" and all they get is a free ride to a college education and many connections following that ride.....I can think of a few kids that wouldn't mind being pimped out like that......

I don't see any difference between mentor/manager or agent except maybe a deferred or hidden payment...wonder why the NCAA doesn't look into that, especially with all the publicity it's generating.

It's a shame that these kids don't have the option of not accepting a scholarship.
