It can be argued that the biggest matchup was the one between elite 2015 front court prospects Ben Simmons and Ivan Rabb. Both put forth quality performances on the first day of the camp and that would remain the case Thursday night, with it being argued by some that the LSU commit (Simmons) held the upper hand in the first half of their game with Rabb coming back in strong fashion in the second.

While Rabb remains the focus of many of the nation’s top programs, it’s been clear through two days that LSU has itself an outstanding future Tiger in Simmons due to his ability to attack defenses in transition as well as in the paint with a solid variety of moves.

Simmons has had an incredible spring and summer. He's very deserving of the No. 1 overall spot at this point. Proved it on the AAU circuit and the NBPA Top 100 camp. Sounds like he's having a good showing at the LeBron James skills academy as well.

Replace Sampson with Horsby and this is a team that will go deep in the tournament.

That being said I put Jordan Mickey's chance to return for his junior season at less than 25% and Martin's chance to return for his junior season at 50%.

If Martin and Mickey were to return though, holy shite...

PG - SR. Gray
SG - SR. Hornsby
SF - FR. Simmons
PF - JR. Martin
C - JR. Mickey

C - SO. Robinson, JR. Malone
PF - SO. Epps, FR. Owens
SF - SO. Bridgewater
SG - FR. Sampson
PG - JR. Quarterman, SO. Patterson

Martin will need to improve by leaps and bounds if he wants to turn pro and be drafted.

Which given his athletic ability can certainly make a huge jump from year 1 to year 2. We saw what happened with JOB III from year 1 to year 2 and Martin certainly has a higher ceiling.

I believe Martin is listed at 6'10 and around 240, so chances are he is shaping up. Mickey put on about 15lbs in good weight as well. Who knows how much they will improve their games as well. I don't feel too good about everyone coming back, but if they do...wow! I think Hornsby will really help Martin and Mickey a ton as well. I could see him as a Marcus Smart type of player for us, without the baggage, lol

Well, that's not true at all. He would have been drafted last year as a freshman, and is a first round lock this as long as he doesn't play much worse/gets injured.

I have heard there is still concern out there that the NCAA (or NBA or whoever) will rule that Simmons can go straight to the NBA because of his time in Australia. It doesn't get talked about here, but it seems like they are still waiting to hear on that front. Fingers crossed.

It's speculation of him moving to Australia for his senior year. He isn't and him graduating in the us prohibiting any immediate jump.

He can't. He's played all of his high school ball in the states, so the same rules that apply to American teenagers apply to him. He hasn't played organized ball in Australia since he was 13. Just like Thon Maker won't be able to declare for the draft out of the NBA, or Andrew Wiggins wasn't, or any other great foreign player over the last couple years. Exum was able to because he played in a basically a semi pro youth academy in Australia. It was kinda like PJ Hairston getting drafted out of the D League this year.

I'm super late to the party. What's the story on Ben Simmons? If he's drawing reviews and getting the chance to show what he can vs LeBron, he's gotta be good.

But just how good? Better than Johnny O'Bryant good with Tyrus Thomas/Stromille Swift athleticism?

Yes, he's better than all those guys, as far as a complete player coming out of High School.

Yes he did.

Hopefully he becomes more comfortable in his body and his skills start to catch up with his frame.

I'm not alone. LINK

Mocks aren't gospel, but I do think he'll be a late first rounder if he's able to maintain natural progression.

Let's go with potential.

And his potential is that of a top-7 pick.

But that's all it is right now.

He has to show improvement in his skill level, or he will always just be potential.
