Out of Ponchatoula, La (Ponchatoula HS).
Don't know if he was on LSU's radar, but looks like our old buddy got a great player.

Likely recruited by Andy since he was at LSU.

He was. Going to be a very good player. Now I'll root for him to go pro.

Cannizaro is going to recruit circles around Cain if he wants to. It's essentially what he did as a scout for the Yankees (the jobs are extremely similar). So he's got a ton of connections, experience, and enthusiasm.

And we've got a guy recruiting off campus for the first time in his life.

Project, are you some type of scout? Just curious and you don't need to comment if too personal. Your work for baseball recruiting is impressive.

Nah. I just really enjoy reading about and watching pretty much all levels of baseball.

Where does 2018 Ole Miss commit CJ Willis catcher from Ruston rank?
Smart respectful and very likeable young man, I don't have a prep baseball subscription, just curious.

Willis is one of, if not the top rated player in the state for 2018. PG has him first, I think. PBR has him second, with Landon Marceaux first.

Basiel Williams is third according to PBR. He's 49th nationally for PG, but I don't know where that puts him in the state.

Thanks. Admittedly I only get my baseball info from you guys, much appreciated. So that's 2 of the states top 3 headed across the river. Kids sucks, is that normal or are there just higher guys out of state or in those particular positions already on board?

This is a bit of a surprise to me that it came before the LSU/Ole Miss series. He was in to Ole Miss and LSU was getting interested. Shows how much pull AC has

Willis is rated as a catcher. We don't have any in the 2018 class at this time. We do have a big time guy in the 2017 class in Mason Doolittle, that's planning to go the same route Smith and Slaughter did by playing in collegiate wooden bat league before getting to LSU. Still a draft risk, but I think he ends up on campus.

In the 2019 class we have Ray Torres from Charlotte, a big time national recruit and Hayden Travinski from Loyola in Shreveport. He's huge and may grow out of being a catcher.

As far as outfielders go, we've got some very very high end guys in the 2017 and 2018 classes. Pearson, Cabrera, Cabell, DiGiacomo, Webre, Lee. Pearson, Cabrera, and Cabell are definitely draft risks. Still would be nice to have gotten Williams.

AC has earned his spurs as a recruiter, but, be honest, some if not a lot of his success was because of the LSU across the front of his jersey.

Andy is really good at recruiting, regardless of the uniform he's wearing.

And he's pulling top Louisiana talent with MSU across the front of his jersey..
