I hear people say that he is not that good. How is that even the case when this is his first year of real recruiting for Top players. I mean hawaii, utah state and Wisc dont usually get into heavy recruitng battles for top players .

This is probably the first place Aranda has probably had to negative recruit against other schools. I think another great year like this one for him and his name will sell it self to interested recruits. You hear it in the interviews about getting developed by Aranda. I believe LSU closes strong at LB but this will be the last year of waiting and hoping for top LB's with Aranda here.

Nobody said that, and he has the best defensive class in the country right now. So he is obviously very good.

Aranda can actually coach so he doesn't necessarily have to get the best class every single year. Top 10 or top 5 classes will result in the best defense in the nation bc the guy can out x and o anyone

Exactly. Good luck to everyone when we get the linebackers where we'd like them to be in terms of depth. Look at what he did he with Riley this year. That guy was the epitome of an afterthought signee who most figured would be just a special teams player. Riley saying Aranda was the best thing to ever happen to him speaks volumes for his ability to develop players

Sometimes it takes awhile to get your connections in place to recruit. Usually takes over a year. Hard for guys to come in and immediately just dominate national recruiting year in and year out. Only a few can do that. I think as he becomes a more household name and he establishes himself at LSU more, you're going to see him become an even better recruiter. I just find it hard to believe a young coach like him doesn't have the potential to be an ace recruiter. Despite all his previous success, I'm fairly certain he wasn't some huge national household name. Now he's getting that recognition and reputation will recruit itself.

Someone is going to get them a great HC. I just have a good feeling about this guy.

He strike me as the non-arse kissing type of person that's personality fits better with the pros than college kids who want their asses kissed

There's a whole bunch of "I think I know shite" but "I really don't know shite" in this thread.

Obviously everyone on the coaching staff needs to recruit and that was one of the knocks on Chavis when he left was that he had stopped recruiting and traveling anywhere but Tennessee... But that is also Coach O's strong point and we do have a bunch of recruiters on the staff that can do the cold call selling and then let Aranda close with how he envisions them fitting into the defense and how he is going to develop them... Building a great defense year in and year out and developing players into NFL prospects is a great closing argument.

Just because we didn't get a couple linebackers doesn't mean everyone thinks he's a bad recruiter.

Wisconsin isn't Delaware State. He's been in a top recruit's living room before. Just didn't have the program to get 'em.

A bunch of recruiters on this staff? I wonder about that. Coach O is a recruiter. Definitely Raymond and Craig (if we keep him). That's about it. Canada doesn't know the Louisiana coaches yet. Aranda is still learning the area. Jenkins is 75 years old. We don't have Miles or Peveto who were both good recruiters if not good on the field coaches.Maybe Austin Thomas. I'm a little worried to be honest. We've got major voids at Inside linebacker and we can't get 3 star kids to fill them.
