re: anyone know where Brian Bridgewater will attend college?Posted by oauron on 3/11/13 at 3:09 pm to thunderbird1100

I would actually disagree with this a lot. He is hitting 25% of his 3's this year and I'd guarantee you he was wide open for well over 50% of them because he usually only shoots them when he's out there all alone and the defense stays back because they want him too. Coleman rarely takes jump shots for a reason, he simply doesn't have one.
Coleman will get better inside looks next year from the 3, but if he wants to play near as much as he does now, he's going to have to develop a jump shot or Mickey/Martin will take almost all his playing time away. Coleman is the size of a 2 or 3 but plays a 4's game.
Which is why I think Bridgewater can still be a potential guy to take depending on attrition and how Deng plays out.
He wouldn't be an instant contributor, but a guy who come on strong and put in some good minutes similar to Storm Warren.

Deng really hasn't impressed at all this year in JUCO so I doubt we take him. Unless he really improved a ton since January this LINK says he's averaging just 9 points and 7 boards a game.
Bridgewater would be an interesting "roll the dice" take. He can clearly play, but can he play against guys 6'8-6'9 in college? Being 6'5 is a huge drawback as we saw with Coleman playing the 4 this year BUT I have to say Bridgewater has a much better chance to be effective there because he's a much bigger body being 225ish.
Either way (taking Deng or Bridewater) means we have to get rid of a current player who isn't a senior. I will say if that person happens to be Courtney we should probably pickup Bridgewater, I think he would be at least as good of a player as Courtney is now as a freshman. The upside with Bridgewater is you get several years of development where as with Courtney he's already done and we know what we're getting. IF Collins is the one not around, I'm not so sure we get a big in Bridgewater or Deng. It would make a lot more sense to get a guard at that point because we would be left with only 4 guards in Hickey, Quarterman, Stringer and Morgan.

What is his actual height? Is he taller than Ricardo Gathers? He's doing pretty well at Baylor as an undersized PF.
I think Gathers has grown a bit, kid is a legit 6'7. Which isn't undersized for a college PF at all.

Don't see Collins going anywhere. He's bound to get better, could have used a redshirt this year. Bridge could take O'Bryant's spot. I see Courtney returning.

Does Bridge qualify for tops? If so, hmmmm ...

That'll take a whole lot of convincing on CJJ's part. A guy who was a top 100 player at one point to the point where's asked to walk-on.

True but you never know.

I would imagine Bridgewater wouldn't qualify for tops if he "just got qualified" academically.

I've seen him play a few times and I think he is a very solid 6'5"
I wouldn't have guessed that, based on seeing him and my older son standing side by side a couple of times on the football field, but granted that was BB's junior year.

He IS that. He is a load on the court, as he was on the football field. I still remember Les and Trent standing along the fence during our game against Episcopal-I was wondering if they were casting lots for who was going to get him. Still think he would have been a good Jimmy Graham style TE.

I would probably take a scholly to a lower level school and start vs walking on at LSU. With the parity in college basketball, a player only needs an opportunity to showcase skills. Places like Butler, George Mason, Davidson, Dayton, Iona, are all prime examples of this.

If he's thinking beyond College, 6'5 forwards are a dime a dozen in the NBA, but 6'5 TE's with his Athleticism are highly coveted, fwiw...

NFL contract are not as guarantee as basketball contracts, I think he can do really well without playing in the NBA if he were able to go over seas and play and if he kept his body up well he could play for around a 10 year career and do pretty well for himself, tax free money in a lot of countries. I guess he has to go were his heart is.

The reason why he's sticking with basketball is he's getting more college interest there than with football. Also, pro prospects in basketball are on a much larger scale than football. There's pro league all over the world for basketball, don't have to play in NBA.

Dylan Moses with Louisiana's top 2014-15 recruits; you call it ridiculous because you really don't know what your looking at!
Whoa whoa whoa! Wash the sand out of your vagina and calm down. And learn the difference between "your" and "you're".
I was only making an analogy that EVERYONE was saying the same thing about Bridgewater when he was in 8th-9th grade.
And don't tell me that Moses is "already big enough to play college ball". That probably means that he's reached his physical peak at age 14-15.
I'd love to revisit this thread in 4 years.
