IMO LSU needs to make him priority one.He is the type of player you hand the keys to and let him drive.

I agree with you. I do like Franks too though. Both are going to be very very good qbs in college. Wish they weren't in the same class.

How many yrs of eligibility does the thug the black bears just signed, the transfer from Clemson by way of a JC, have left? If he's any good at all, and can stay on the team, Patterson mite be looking at riding the bench behind him. Whereas at LSU, his competition, sad to say, won't be that tough.

Franks is tough competition and they are the same year. He's the top dual threat QB in the country while Patterson is arguably the Top Pocket Passer. Either way, I think both benefit from stiff competition and LSU's style of offense is very beneficial to translate into the NFL.

Cole Kelly is a better QB than Patterson. He has a very live are and is one of the smartest kids i have seen play the game...not to mention he is 6'8

They have had Chavis recruiting him, I hear.

Which is to say, nobody is recruiting him.

No offense, but absolutely not. I like Kelly, I think he is a Division I prospect, but Patterson is on a totally different level.

To answer your question, Chad Kelly has two years of playing eligibility left. We also will sign Jason Pellerin next week. Two other QBs already on the team --Buchanan and Kincade-- were 4-stars IIRC when signed in 2013. They both got a little bit of mop up duty last year as RS freshmen and didn't exactly set the world on fire.

IMO Brandon Harris has more raw talent than any QB we have, so it's not like Patterson would have any more competition for playing time at OM than at LSU.

ETA: It was Keltic who asked about Kelly's eligibility.

Agreed. I think it looks like Shea will be in the system for a year and then likely get a shot at some PT just like Franks. McMillian will have an extra year in the system to prove he can be a starter as well.

He has two years left and Shea will be riding the pine here as well if Harris does what he is supposed to. At the earliest our 2016 commits shouldn't be starting until 2017.

LSU needs at least one more QB this year and I really don't care if it's Patterson, Haskins, Kelley, or Scott.
