The writing has been on the wall because he wasn't able to play in the bowl game. I doubt the staff is sitting back and letting his academic situation clear up. I believe that are moving on.

Like the writing was on the wall for Tahj Jones and others who they waited an entire semester on to get academics in order? I'm not saying by any means Jacobs is 100% coming back, but to say the "Writing is on the wall" and he definitely isn't coming back considering they have waiting on kids in the past is a bit hasty.

You can't just say "I'm not a fan of blocking TE's and I prefer Stanford's offense" and expect the staff to make a change to Stanford's passing game. Whether we agree with it or not, LSU has it's own philosophy and it is bringing in it's own set of players to run it. Stokes is being brought in for need and there is still the possibility that Cethan Carter may get a scholly. That tells me that they are trying to shore up that position.

It's not like total philosophy change, it's something they could do with the current personnel. Now do we have a TE as good as Ertz or there their 6'8 guy? No, but they can still easily implement that kind of power game with the PA game still there. Some things in football have always baffled me and using TEs almost strictly as extra OTs has always been one of those. Just use OTs if all you're going to do is run, they block better.

Not even close to the truth.

- We offered Jones, not Claiborne, that means Chavis/staff likes him over Claiborne.

- Claiborne doesn't have 1 big time offer, he's got a lot of lower to mid tier BCS school offers. Jones has a few big time offers, including Bama.

- If you compile a composite ranking of them both, Jones is ranked higher than Claiborne in the services (source: 247)

Sorry, but the consensus is Jones >>> Claiborne. Whether you think that's right or not is your opinion, but that is the general thought. If we needed more LBs, then Claiborne might get an offer, but Jones is the only LB we're taking unless Beckwith also ends up there.

I sort of understand worring about RB. Taylor looks good, but not special and freshman RB's can come in and contribute right away and 3 deep plus Magee is good enough. 5-6 deep is a luxry at RB. 2014 could be really scary with nothing but frosh, plus we will be breaking in a new QB

As for Ellis, we have White and Robinson who both rate as better DBs. We had 2 freshman play this year and there are several elite DB's we are recruiting for 2014. Even if he was the 2nd coming of Deon Sanders, I'm not sure he'd be worth putting up with his dad. good player, will well, except when A&M plays LSU, but nothing to regret in not getting him.

What if? What if? Well what if McNeil qualifies and makes it in this class, what if we do sign LF, and what if we also land Foster and Beckwith and Willis. That's what I want to know ab!

This year, LSU was better than Stanford in every offensive category : Points PG, Yards PG, Passing YPG, Rush YPG all while playing in an overall better defensive conference.

And I think LSU set up an official for Kamara so that RN would definitely visit the same weekend. It's ab RN fellas.

I am saying take 1 aspect out of their offense, which is definitely better than it is in ours. It just makes sense. What about last year when they had Luck? Was it even close then? Dumb comparison either way because that's not what I'm talking about.

They use TEs correctly IMO, we dont.

You'd think that people would consider A&M big time, especially on the direction of the program.

1 great year recruiting because they are taking 100 kids doesn't make them a "Big school" like LSU, Alabama, Florida, USC etc... in the offer department.

A&M is used to coming in and getting LA scraps from us, not kids who we offer from here. Bama, USC, schools like that can compete with us for kids from here we want.

So no, A&M is not changing my mind this year, because they aren't even taking a kid from here we want and this is a flash in the pan recruiting year for them.

sorry, i misread that. on the msb during the rose bowl someone was talking about wanting LSU to have Stanfords offense. they were better in 2011, not surprising with Luck, plus 3 other offensive players taken in the top 45 picks, including Fleener.

They still got plenty of guys that LSU wanted. Including the #1 WR in the country. Of course, I don't think they're elite, but definitely big time.

They got a ton of Texas kids, they are not taking away form us as much as UTexas. They still haven't taken a LA player we have wanted.

They are taking like 35 kids this year, their recruiting class still isn't on average better or as good as ours. A&M is not considered an elite offer like LSU/Bama/UF/USC. A&M has 34 commits right now and 20 of them are (composite) 3-stars. Of the leftover 14 guys, 2 of those aren't expected to qualify. They have essentially almost an entire class of "lower tier" prospects still (not saying all of those 3-star guys are mediocre or wont pan out, just going by their rankings and the fact they have TWENTY of them).

So once again, no, A&M isn't a "big offer". I dont think anyone considers them on LSU/Bama level right now in the recruiting realm.

Sleep on A&M at your peril. This cycle they may not be a threat, but going forward, I would not discount them. Obviously they will be much bigger player in Texas, but they recruited well in La under RC Slucom. Even Bama's only gotten 1 really big time guy from us.

I agree with Jones is better than Claiborne, but in a different year, i think LSU might have gone after him, but not after taking 6 LB's in 2012. Not a big loss and neither is Ellis even though both may be good players.
