Do you seriously come here to gloat when a player chooses Bama over LSU?
Thats what the SEC Rant is for.
This is where LSU fans come to talk recruiting..
We all know Bama won it all last year..Go rub in someone elses face. That shite is getting old...

I didn't gloat then, and I'm not now. I know what board I'm on. I'm just saying that there's no reason to question Ely's talent over one game, when he has a body of work to suggest how talented he is. Not to mention the glowing remarks LSU fans gave him until his annoucement.

Based on one game, huh? Ely was the "next best thing", until he didn't go to LSU.

Untrue, there were tons of doubts by LSU fans about his abilities long before he committed. Didn't do your research before you made that statement.

I watched the game last night and he overthrew his receivers pretty consistently. He had time enough to make his throws, he just couldn't connect and did not have good mobility. At one point in the 4th quarter, he overthrew 3 straight passes.

The RB for Manatee, Blakely, was also a beast last night and made Plant's RB, James Wilder look bad by comparison as did Manatee's SOPHOMORE QB, who was head and shoulders better than Ely last night.

Basing your opinion of Ely on one game? Not very smart. Have seen a bit of film of Ely and he has the arm to be a big time talent. If he had signed with the Tigers I am sure your opinion would be much different.

Hey Capstone . It was more than just one game . Ely Is known as garbage from every circle in this area except tha Plant area . They are laughing at the fact that Bama is going to get him . And I for one , am so damn happy he isnt coming to LSU that I might send flowers to his house on Monday .

The guy is as soft as a marshmallow . He also doesnt have the skill positin players this year that he did last year . To put it bluntly , when he has to step up , he won't .

I watched the game on ESPN last night. I just think Rivers will be fine for us in the long run. Marve(Purdue)and Murray(Georgia) are both smallish QB's that put up big numbers in the Plant system, that havnt done anything on the next level. Murray is only starting because of the other kid getting kicked off the team.

The only reason there was a "minor freakout" is because of LSUs QB situation....it had nothing to do with Ely's talent...or lack thereof. We were just hoping anyone signed.

Do you honestly think that Alabama would have offered him, if he didn't have potential? He was an Elite 11 QB, and has excelled at several college summer camps as well. He's been evaluated by Alabama's staff. With how fluid the QB depth chart can be, there's no way an SEC caliber program is going to offer a QB they don't believe can succeed in the future. I'll take the evaluation of Jim McElwain over a bunch of "scouts" in Tampa.

Murray is yet to take a college snap. But he's going to be the starter for Georgia. Marve played pretty well for a freshman in 2008 for Miami. He just had a unfortunate injury, and then fell behind Jacory Harris. He'll have a second chance at Purdue.

Again, he was a redshirt freshmen, with true freshmen WRs. Miami was not a very good team in 2008. Considering the scenario, I think he did well. Marve and Murray are talented QBs. I expect the same for Ely. He's not going to be Sam Bradford or Ryan Mallett, but he'll be a very capable QB.

I'm just skeptical that a HS program can produce 3 back to back to back QB's that get all these offers

Not even Mater Dei does that
