Isn’t the point of getting Kelly to do just that though? UGA was in the same boat until they weren’t.
we hired the best coach we could with the expectation that he'd have the team competing for Championships. I don't know if that can change the reality of who LSU is. At this point in our history, it is unrealistic to expect to do that yearly.

I would say we missed on 2/4 highest need areas: WR, OL, DT and Corner.

We did not address needs at DT and Corner.

Did not address needs at DT? If Jefferson is indeed in as had been intimated by several posters, you have to realize that the DT pull from the Portal is 2 Power 5 starting DTs (one from the PAC10 and one from the BIG12). The kids were starting DTs that are being brought in to shore up the DT position. That in and of itself is impressive. Now let's mention a depth piece in Lee.

A DT room of Smith, Wingo, Shand, Jefferson, Guillory, Lee and Langston is a solid group of players.

Our DL in ‘23 is going to be great. We missed on high school guys that could impact ‘24. That was the point.

No, the offensive line last year was decent especially at tackle. Center was good at snapping but got hid s*** pushed in in the rush up the middle and run game. At guard we were service able on the pass and weak at running. We signed 4 good tackles. With a year under the O lines belt they should all improve and with the quality coming in we’re sure to improve at guard. Center is still an issue. Grabbing Renfro from the portal would be huge.

We should improve our run game and have a cleaner passing pocket. But none of this matters if JD5 can’t get his average yards down field markedly up. The better O line should help dramatically in third down conversion rate to extend more drives. Let us also hope this help JD5 not have as many sacks. But it’s up to him to find folks down field.

I get your point.

Need to also keep in mind that all of the above referenced group of players in the DT room with the exception of Guillory have 2+ years of eligibility remaining, should they choose to play same, so the 2024 situation may not be as dire as you think.
