Smart move by Parker and LSU.
I was concerned we'd have a flurry of positive academic news around late November when Alabama swooped in and the story would be floated that Alabama cared about the young man and helped him get eligible while LSU waited around.

I think with today’s influx of late camp transfers, you can somewhat afford to gamble on grade guys, if they don’t make it it leaves you open a spot to bring in someone.

Not anymore. With the new recruiting rules, once a guy signs an LOI he counts, regardless if he makes it to campus or not.
If you sign a guy and he doesn't qualify, he still counts as an initial counter and you don't get that spot back.
The only thing you can do with the extra scholarship at that point is give it to a former walk-on who has been in the program at least two years.

The way I see it with Parker and his alleged grade issues is if he doesn't get eligible, that just means one of the guy on the roster you were going to process to get to 85 gets to stay. If he does get eligible, which I think he will, you go ahead an process someone to make him part of the 85.

This kid has a really high ceiling. Really hope he gets those grades in order, because he could be a very, very good LT for us.

Ray is big time!!! Soft hands as a TE and a crushing OT that leads the way for a talented QB. I am happy to see him coming to Death Valley! Great addition.
