Not sure how much we were actually recruiting him but it says he has an LSU offer.

LINK

I thought Mays was our top in state PG target being he's the typical JJ combo guard at 6'4 vs. 6'0 Peters, but looks like Mays isnt even interested in us anymore with UNLV out front.

The lack of interest with Mays is mutual. Dejon Jarreau is easily the top point guard prospect in state next year and Id bet we go after him the hardest.

We are losing a point guard and possibly 2 SG's. We need both guys unless there is a oos guy JJ is going for that we don't know about

The next several classes are absolutely stacked as far as guards are concerned. Mays and Peters are the 3rd and 4th best guards in the state next year, behind Jarreau and Malik Crowfield.

I can't blame Mays. Being on LSU's campus for all of your high school career isn't always good. I'd want to get off of it, too.

So THIS is the mid-season transfer JJ saved his last scholarship for...

Sounds like he's definitely ending up at UNLV.

I really don't like that sham of a school. I can uncderstand, and even like, schools pulling in kids and giving them a better opportunity to be seen and potentially getting them scholarships to college.

But Victor was at St Aug and Mays at UHigh, they don't need help being seen.

I don't think it's about "being seen" as these kids are on AAU circuits as well, it's about coaching. Plus, parents probably feel these schools better prep them for college.

I'd like Jamal Peters to sign with the Tigers.

His style and skill-set would be refreshing. Of course he can help you win or he wouldn't be mentiuoned.

Plus, I like the thought of strengthening our hold on SE Louisiana especially NOLA. Actually, we don't really have a 'hold' but you know what I mean.

You can always use a guy with handles like him. Many a team has come and gone to LSU with the .fans clamoring that we need a true PG

son of a beach!! I didnt see Miss. St. got him.

I don't like it. I know there are a lot of higher ranked guards out there. But screw an inch or two in height or a couple of points per game in regards to scoring average

some kids simply have it. Peters is one of them

Hopefully, we get some more recruits for A.B.(after Ben)

Baton Rouge is where we need to lock down. The talent the BR area is producing far outclasses the NO talent. Since 2012, BR will have produced potentially 4 top 50 players, including 3 five stars (Jarell Martin, Josh LeBlanc, and Javonte Smart) to go along with Damion Jones, Josh Evans, Josh Anderson, and Kobe Julien. The Laffy area is also producing some excellent talent in the next few classes with Galen Alexander from Breaux Bridge and Greg Williams from Lafayette. Then you've got CENLA with Cameron Lard, Cedric Russell, Mike Layssard, and Brandon Rachal. Of course you can't ignore NOLA, but I think most of the top talent is centered elsewhere in the state for the next several classes. JMO.

as a proud NOLA guy I'd have to say yeah you right. I live in BR these days and have noticed such.

But one of the reasons I mentioned that particular area was because the top recruits traditionally do go elsewhere more so than other areas of the state

LSU will regret not signing him. He's a creative ball handler and kinda brings a honey badger/TM7 type of swag to a team. (regardless of that not being measurable)

TOTALLY GENERALIZING:

and I agree with the poster saying BR basketball is typically better than NOLA ball

but to me BR ball usually has bigger and stronger prospects

and NOLA has generally had smaller/ faster prospects whereas making the games faster... like a track meet

Lulz at the idea Findlay whatever is a better college prep experience than St Aug or U High.

For basketball it is... I wouldn't be shocked if Mitchell Robinson goes somewhere like that...
