Big get. I don’t think he’ll see college, but with that said, I’d love to see him in a Tiger uniform.

I agree that we always hear it when it comes to baseball recruits, but I know enough about this kid to say it’s a good possibility. At the same time, things are different when NIL is involved.

He has one of the nastier cutters I’ve seen and he had it before he got to HS. Definitely the best cutter I’ve seen let alone a kid that just entered HS. He looked really good playing for team USA over the summer and works his arse off every week.

I like the fact that PG has him listed as the top player in Louisiana, #6 LHP and #54 player overall for his class and he’s never attended a showcase.

He also stopped playing football even though he was a hell of player. He knows where his future is.

He throws 90 from the left side and was asked to try out for Team USA’s 16u team before he stepped foot on WM’s campus. Another unbelievably talented kid at WM that won’t play football. Should be a good run for the WM baseball team though. Won state last year, return 7 starters from last year and the top 3 pitchers while adding this kid. Ole Miss, Tech, and 2 LSU commits on the team now that Garner committed.

Knowing that my opinion is worth little here- I don’t agree with kids ages 14& below throwing a high pitch count with curves/cutters mixed in. Higher chance of needing TJ, ligament repair surgery later on.

Watched Bradyn a good bit this summer, he is a very good pitcher. Polished and competed against older age group.

Agree with the curve ball and pitching in general , most young players don’t have the strength to throw it properly so it puts stress on their elbow. Long pitch count innings can be the worst on elbows . Regardless of age, there are a lot of factors with arm health and kids when it comes to throwing curve balls/pitch counts. Maturity(growth plates) ,strength, mechanics, how long they are, accel of arm, strength to stop the arm , etc. It depends on the person of when they can handle curve balls.
It can go past 14 Yo when the strength isn’t there and some of the boys are still growing.
Spotting fastballs and change ups can be effective enough to have success.

Some Underclass High school boys are more mature and older than you think.

He’s an older freshman, about to be 16. So he’s pretty developed physically, spends a lot of time doing arm care, etc.
This is pure speculation at this point, but maybe reclassification could be in his future…..who knows?

Do you know how heavily we're pursuing some of his teammates? I wanted Federico at LSU, but I'm pretty sure his whole family is from Mississippi so Ole Miss makes sense.

The Ferguson kid seems like a dude though, and I don't think PBR had him top ten in his class in the state, which was weird to me.

Hard to get excited about baseball commits
Never know how MLB views them
Plus, when you offer so early, you may not have even seen them face varsity level of play yet
Some peak out fr and soph years and other players eventually catch up to them

He pitched for WM’s varsity this summer and he throws live vs Jrs, Srs and some college kids every so often at our workouts so he’s definitely faced some good comp.

He’s faced LSU commit Pearson numerous times during weekly workouts over the past year as well.

There’s currently 2 LSU pitching commits working out full time in the same location and every now and then Pearson will show up to time live Bp off of them.

He played on the knights 16 national team this summer. He had success against national 2024 kids and teams all summer . He was never overwhelmed. LSU did right in offering him and getting him committed. Early commitments is the the game Jay has to play to get elite talent on campus. All the risk and pressure to get there is on the player. Trust me , he has the talent to have a shot . Currently , he’s one of the better arms in the state I’ve seen regardless of class.

Ferguson’s recruitment will come down to one main thing, velocity….which is dumb but that’s how things work. Currently low 80s. He has elite command of 2-3 pitches which is rare at that age. He works fast and will straight carve you up, his command of the off speed makes his FB look faster….easy arm action too. We’ll see how the velo develops.

I’m not sure if Fed has an LSU offer, I could be wrong about that. Jay Johnson likes power, and that’s the one tool Fed hasn’t quite shown “yet”. He’s elite at every other aspect. Best infielder I’ve ever seen at this age. IQ and approach are off the charts, not surprising considering his dad is a D1 coach. Kid is a leader and winner.

Agree things don’t get serious at schools like LSU until you pitch upper 80s into 90s velo , even there it depends how they project you. Right or wrong it’s how it is .
