What's so wrong with my statement? It's true. No amount of training will make you fast, much less an elite sprinter. Nicky has God given natural talent.

Training makes you faster. It's undeniable. It however cannot make you fast.

Did you just reply to your own comment asking what's wrong with your comment?

Did anyone say she wasn't fast?

What the? Define fast. If you are using Nicki's speed as "fast", well no shite. Not very many women in the country who have her speed.

Look, it seems like my comments are offending people. I have taken a very deep look into talent identification, the flaws of it, speed training, nature vs nurture, etc. I have such a deep perspective on it that I am not always articulate to the audience.

Im very impressed with this young lady and her accomplishments. She is quite an exceptional athlete. She also seems to train very hard. Her training has elevated her natural elite athleticism. That's all I'm getting at.

No I get you there. And I'm not disagreeing with what you said. I'm just wondering about "training can't make you fast". I'm not sure what you are defining as fast. You can take a kid, teach them how to run, build strength and agility, and indeed make a "slow" girl "fast"....just depending on what metric you're using to define fast.

I'd be much more in tune with numbers to quantify that on the male side. She's got it for sure. I'd equate her to a 10.3 or lower hs aged male. Nationally elite speed.

For someone who runs a 10.3 and trains hard... What do they run if they never trained? 10.5? 10.6? That's still an elite time.

I'm saying this young lady was born naturally fast. It's an assumption. I don't know her or her story. I'd bet dollars to donuts that if you talked to people who knew her growing up that she was exceptionally fast as a kid. I'd bet it was routine for her to be faster than boys that were considered fast.

Obviously she is training hard. That's one of the major factors determining success of natural athletes like herself. She also has the focus and will to push herself. This has elevated her game to the point that she is a track star and a softball national record holder.

I'm proud of her without knowing her. But frankly, you could take 99.9% of young women her age, train them, and they'd never get close to her success.

What next level?

She was always fast as a kid. And again, I'm not talking about nicki at all here. I'm only questioning your comment that you can't train a person to be fast. I'm NOT using her as the standard. I'm just talking in general terms. To say that training won't make a person fast is subjective at best. If by fast you mean as fast as nicki, then sure. You won't be able to train someone who is slow simply by hard work to match her. She is a freak. But a person who trains hard running a 10.3 wouldn't sniff a 10.5 with no training or work. If you're talking 100 times, you can take someone running a 13.5 and teach them and train them and have them running an 11.5. To me that is still fast as shite. That was my point. "Elite" is a whole different animal than "fast"...at least in my book.

This article on the link will answer some of your questions on her ability. It talks about how she ran away from defenders in jr high FOOTBALL!! Think about this, she just won the Louisiana High School Championship in the 60 meter dash in her third career meet without ever working out of a set of blocks or going through a track workout. She showed up to the meet and won. She could run on any level (LSU or otherwise) if she selected track. She was her high school district MVP in basketball as an 8th grader before she gave up hoops. Nicky is a pure freak and I believe the best female athlete in the USA and possibly ever in the sport of softball. If she was a guy people would be screaming Bo Jackson.

Is she fast? Yep. Does she work hard? Yep. Did it make her faster? Yep

That's about what I figured. Nicky would dominate any number of sports or events, depending on where her passion is. World class.

I deal with junior Olympians regularly. Fast to me is all-American type speed. She's got it.

I'll even go deeper. She's strong because she's fast. Or is it she's fast because she's strong? The chicken or the egg? I don't know.

Edited cause I don't want to make it sound like a bash cause it certainly wasn't intended that way.

That is great to see and she seems to be a wonderfully gifted athlete. I just hope she has as great a career as we all hope she does. Softball is also a game of skill and not pure athletic ability. Hopefully she can throw, field and hit as well as she runs. Hitting the top SEC pitching is no easy task, just ask Emily and Bailey. We do need a true lead off hitter. It would be great if she can bat lead off and steal a bunch of bases.

She's ripped.

Definitely looks like she has God-given athleticism.

Looking forward to seeing her play.

The link below shows a different angle of the triples record. She makes it look easy. Holds the bat about 4 strides down the line and never really has to turn on the jets. Pure speed...
