Some good information in here on how he feels about his development and recruiting process. He's developmenting into a fantastic prospect and team leader. His parents are doing a great job with keeping him well grounded.

Victor is "Doing Work Sons"!!!

I'm so proud of him.

quote:

Losing six seniors from last year’s St. Augustine team the outlook this year was unclear, but Victor, the lone returning starter from the previous season, has stepped up and helped carry his team to a strong 24-9 record. Like most teams, the goal is to win a state championship… something the 6-8, 210 lb. junior thinks they can accomplish, but there is an obstacle currently in the way. “We’re just trying to get passed the third round, which is a tough game on the road, and if we can do that I think we can win state.” Victor said. If Victor is able to play close to his season numbers of 18 ppg, 11 rpg, and 7 bpg, St. Augustine will continue being a tough out for any opponent. Those numbers are eye-popping and certainly the level the sensational forward is playing at has schools recruiting him waiting anxiously to find out where he will choose to bring such talents as “being able to post up a defender and score or being able to take him out and attack the rim from there, and just being very mobile… It all depends who’s defending me, but me being versatile helps my game a lot.”

quote:

here are a few tidbits of what Victor had to say about each school…

Arizona: “I like Arizona a lot… I was able to take an unofficial visit there and I like their style of play. Parker (Jackson-Cartwright) just signed there too so they’re getting good players out there.”

Kansas: “I like their style of play too and I really like the fan base… they have a winning season pretty much every year.”

UCLA: “The name UCLA speaks for itself… They get a lot of talent in the league and coming to the school. Plus, I like California a lot.”

Miami: “Their environment and the coaching staff are both great – I spoke with them before the season about their interest in me and how I am also very interested. They’ve had a great season this year.”

Louisville: “I went and watched them play in New Orleans during the Final Four last year. I like their style of play and the level of energy they bring every game.”

Georgetown: “Coach Thompson is great over there and they had a New Orleans’ native over there before – Greg Monroe – and I like how his situation turned out.”

LSU: “They’re moving on up. Their recruiting class is strong with Jordan Mickey and others signing early. It’s looking good for the future and doing big things there.”

Oklahoma State: “They just have a great program… I was able to go up there and see their fan base, and I liked Coach Ford and what he’s done with the program and how he keeps the team motivated.”

UConn: “I still like UConn… I believe the program still has life and I’m still interested in them a lot.”

quote:

Victor says he will have a Top 5 picked by the end of the summer and most likely will be ready to make a decision by the time the next season starts.

Any thoughts/predictions (from anyone) on what his top 5 could be?

From what I read, it looks like Arizona and Ok State would be up there. I'm sure LSU will be up there as well, even if it is just to keep the local heat at bay. I'm just a casual follower though, so I could be way off.

Keep it coming. He would be a freshman on a team that looks like it will be ready to make a serious tourney run if he comes here.

Very hopeful. Would be great for us. Not sure we get him, but I know he would make us a better team.

We're definitely going to have to make a splash next season to land his services IMO. Get to the tournament, win a few games, I think he'll take notice we can be as good (especially with him) as those top schools that are courting him. You know Johnny Jones is putting in some work on him, and with him, I feel we have a great shot.

Is Butch Pierre still at Oklahoma State? I'd imagine he's a big reason they seem to be up there on his list. He was vital in getting Markel Brown there.

Well, this is solely my opinion and not coming from him or his camp...

This could definitely change whenever he starts visiting more schools, but out of the schools that were mentioned I think strong interest is in UCLA, Kansas, LSU, Miami, Louisiville. Personally, I still think LSU is holding it's own given the type of class they're bringing in. He didn't mention it in the article, but Jarrell Martin signing was very good.

If Martin stays an extra year, you're looking at hell of a big arse line up with massive star power in the front court with Martin, Victor, and Mickey.

Just saying St.Aug does a great job in NOLA always have having the type of talent across all sports is incredible. Victor is one of the most post players in the nation right now and would start on many D-1 programs. Many of the big guys that are rated so high are based off of pure potential/size and NBA potential, i.e. Cauley-Stein or Steven Adams. Would be a huge get. Very happy St. Aug has recovered from Katrina.

Could very well have the Mr Football and Mr Basketball next season.

And yeah, the potential for a Martin, Mickey Victor front line is not only big but athletic as hell. The potential of having a 4th year starter in Hickey running that show is mind-boggling.

Going to play devils advocate and say if JOB III returned for senior season and Martin isn't a 1 and done...but we also got Victor...best front court ever

Wat?

You're talking about a guy playing in college in two years. Plenty of time.

He's not a TE, he's a PF. 6'8 210 is very good size for a high school junior.

Do you not follow basketball much? Most big men that 6'8/6'9 aren't 240+. They are right around that 210ish mark in college even.

JOB III and Odoh, oh BTW our backups there are Victor and Mickey...oh btw we also have Martin at the 3 to complement them.

Yeah, that's completely unfair. Goodnight sweet SEC if that actually happened.
