Searched, didn't see anything.

Going to gut my MIL's house in Laplace tomorrow. Are you supposed to put everything on the side of the street? Sheetrock, furniture, etc...

TIA

Take photos of the damage before you do anything

I would guess that the insurance co. would want to mitigate the possibility of additional cost due to mold/mildew damage. I'm going to take video and photos as evidence.

Maybe someone that has been through this could provide some guidance.

Guts Feathers and All - If any of the electrical wiring was submerged pull that out also. otherwise you are looking at a possible fire hazard down the road.

Make sure you take tons of pictures of everything before you begin. If you need help with what to do with treating for mold, etc. ask and I can point you in the right direction ..

Good luck -

I'll take pointers, I was going to spray everything down with a bleach/water mixture after all sheetrock and insulation is removed.

Don't use bleach. Get an antimicrobial or use a high strength hydrogen peroxide. You may want to rent a few dehumidifiers and fans to help with the dry out. Good luck.

Use a product called Bora-Care. Sprayed hundred of houses after Katrina and never had a problem. You can buy it at PestStop.

Home depot or Lowes. I'm attaching a link.

antimicrobial

Don't forget to let the insurance know about your time spent mitigating the damage. You will be compensated for your work. Try to document everything to your best ability. Again, good luck....this will be a big project.

How high was water in the house? Check with insurance. company on payouts according to water levels in the area.
If water level was below 4 ft in house, measure 4 ft from the floor and draw as straight a ine as possible from floor. remove all sheetrock below line.. Sheetrock replacement will be much easier.(less cutting)

Good luck out there
