I have a vehicle that the window cable came off of the gear attached to the motor. Window just freely goes up and down. Where can I bring this vehicle to get the cable put back on the gear? Window shop? Dealer? Somewhere else?

Could not find anything on YouTube for this vehicle, Mazda CX9.

Look for a video on getting inside of the door. The motor and cable / connector are usually a quick swap and pretty intuitive. You can probably do the whole shebang with a screwdriver

Thanks but that video does not address a cable that has become unspooled.

There are clips on either side that hold the window in place. Check those to see if they broke off.

I'd fix it myself personally. I've done 4 on a tPOS beemer I had. Sometimes the tension on the cable gets too loose and pops out.

I decided to order a new regulator assembly from Rock Auto for $26. I know it would be a couple of hundred if I took it somewhere.

You made the right choice. It’s easier to buy the entire regulator than fight that damn cable. You saved yourself hours of useless pain. In my experience, $100 part would still have been worth it.

Mazda CX9.

My wife’s Mazda did the same thing a few years ago. Mazdas are a complete pain in the arse to work on, so I jammed a 2x4 under the window to keep it up then traded the car in.
