Looking to build an outdoor space and would put the composite wood down as the flooring. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with these outdoor wood composites?

Trex will warp like crazy if not installed correctly

If it says composite stay away. I won’t sell it ever. Got burned on Trex and won’t let it happen again. Don’t care how good they say it is now. It’s junk. Timber tech Pvc decking ftw. It’s the old azek decking.

Just used the timber tech pvc vintage coastline for my camp deck. It looks great and feels amazing. Does get a little hot full sun. I have oyster color on another project but it doesn’t stay clean. So you have to find the balance.

I’ll agree on timber tech. It’s a way better product than Trex

I installed a bit of trex, it isn't bad and mine hasn't warped as mentioned here after a year or so

one thing I screwed up, board sizing is like traditional 2x4s, so double check actual dimensions instead of trusting the 6" width advertising

Does timbertech get a million degrees in the sun like trex?

I built a dock with trex 20 years ago on galvanized float dock. Still perfect to this day. Recently built a deck and used moisture shield. It is rated for direct contact. Looks good and doesn’t seem to get too hot. Supplier recommended it over trex and said they had better experience with it. I think it is made in Arkansas.

I build docks and we use weardeck by owens corning. shite scratches and dings way too easily to be called weardeck.

This. It's the only thing I'll spec and if the client wants less, I just have to point out the benefits.

Same for my house. Mine is in full shade so I don't even worry about the heat factor. Take a hose to it about once every 1-2weeks and it's good.

If you go Trex or composite, I've found you have to space the joist at 12" vs 16" for standard layouts to combat the warping.

TimberTech has composite and PVC. The PVC stays cooler but still can get hot. But any surface gets hots when it's 100+ degrees outside in full sun.
