Anyone got a good spot in the Metairie kenner area for getting a string trimmer repaired. Have had issues with my echo. It’s about two years old. Replaced carburetor once and still having issues with it cutting out.

You say it cuts out? You mean it'll idle but won't rev on high?

If it has a spark arrestor in the muffler - remove it. It's a small screen that clogs up with carbon and when you rev it the engine chokes out because it can't exhaust.

If the fuel tank has debris in there, slush some gas in it and pour out to remove the debris, then change the filter.

It barely starts at this point. If I get it started, it cuts out when I pull the trigger. So it idles but cuts out when the trigger is fired

Sounds like it needs a carb adjustment.

Remove that spark screen from the muffler and try it again.

If it still won't run right you've got other problems.

A 2 yr old trimmer shouldn't have needed a carb replacement. Were you using ethanol gas? Never use ethanol gas. Find a station that sells non-ethanol gas for your small engines. I know I'm making assumptions but small engines are relatively easy to diagnose and repair.

One last thing...are you leaving the choke on? Maybe on half choke? My aunt said the same thing about one of her Stihl trimmers not running on high but I determined she was running it with the choke on half way.

Choke is full off when trying to run.

I’m not sure on the ethanol free. Got regular unleaded from the race track station near me and mixed in the 2 cycle oil.

I’ll try removing the screen first. I don’t have a ton of time to mess with it so if it’s not expensive and taking forever to get it fixed by Pauli I’ll let him do it.

Aside from the spark arrestor screen you also might have a clogged catalytic converter. Yes, Echo puts a ceramic catalytic element in the mufflers of some equipment, had one in my PB-250LN.

Your description of the problem points to the spark arrestor screen others have mentioned. I would definitely start with that. It takes just a few minutes...

Mine keeps leaking gas and fouling the plug. I only put a small amount of gas in the tank after cleaning the plug and it cranks and runs fine.????

Video on high mixture adjustment on an ECHO

Probably not your model and does seem to require a special tool but it sounds similar to what you describe.

To clean my spark screen I get tongs and hold it and take a lighter and burn all the crap off of it. Once it’s burned off, re-install and works like a charm. Have a had to do twice since my 2016ish echo

Then it likely wasn't non-ethanol. You'll need to seek it out. You can Google stations near you that have it. Nowadays it's usually a separate pump handle and labeled. Very important not to use ethanol gas in small engines if you want them to last. You can also just use trufuel, it's $$ but it's easy and I'm lazy.
