Thanks. I was hoping for someone to come to my house. It doesn't run nor do I have the means to transport my mower somewhere.

what is it? zero turn or lawn tractor?

most common issue when they wont start is a dirty carburetor, which costs $20 from ebay and takes 5 minutes to change

i used to fix mowers but i gave up trying to compete with mexicans selling them cheaper than i could buy them

also, most lawnmower shops have trailers that can come pick it up and drop it off for extra charge

It's an old Craftsman from Sears. I did a tune-up earlier this week. When I tried to start it, it tried to crank, but it wouldn't start and it started to smoke. It reeks of gas now.

yep carburetor is flooding out, i have seen it completely drain the entire gas tank dry when it floods.

it goes into the engine where the oil is supposed to be. that is whats making the engine smoke, because the oil is thinned out by the gas and going right passed the piston rings

pull out dipstick and its gonna be over full and smelling of gas so your oil is contaminated and dont use it.

after disconnecting it or turning off the gas, remove spark plug and spin engine by hand to get all the raw gas out of the engine cylinder, then put the plug back in and change the oil (& filter if it has one)

a carb rebuild kit costs $12, or you can buy the whole carb for $16

this is the carb you need, and they even got cheaper, its only $13.50 LINK

They have a trailer and will come pick your mower up. I think they charge $60 or something like that for a transportation fee.

NP

to get the carb off there are two 7/16" nuts that hold the plastic 90 onto it, and then the threaded studs have a 5/16" nut made into it so they can be unscrewed.

the best way to remove it is with a 5/16" ratchet wrench, since a regular wrench has trouble reaching it because its slightly recessed into the carburetor body. the ratchet wrench sticks out enough to reach in the recess to grab it

the engine cover uses 3/8" bolts in rear and either a torx bolt or shorter 3/8" bolts in the front and often there is a small 1/4" screw that goes through the top and into the plastic 90.

i can find and link a video to replacing a carb if you need it, but its easy to replace
