Feel good that they did not say you needed a whole new unit, seems that is their answer to just about any service call

You didn’t pay $400 for a Capacitor, you paid $400 for not having to touch anything and for the knowledge the service guy had that you didn’t have.

Same. Owned two houses over the past 21 years and didn't even know AC capacitors going out was a thing until reading this post.
