Project estimates post covid

Seems like every project across the board is substantially more expensive compared to pre covid prices to do the same project. Do we think this is the new normal or does anyone think we see a return to pre covid prices at some point?
Trying to gauge when to pull trigger on some large projects. I’m concerned that even though prices are ridiculous right now, I may be kicking myself in future if they go up even further. Obviously noone has the true answer but curious what everyone thinks.

I think a recession is coming and I think prices are going to come down

Things will come down but not to pre Covid prices

Demand should be falling with interest rates being around 5%. Only issue is there is a serious lack of skilled labor which really strains the supply side.
Material cost (mostly lumber) has dropped a good bit, but PVC, PEX, Romex and concrete are all high.
There is also figuring in how much you are willing to pay to enjoy it now. If you can afford it now, I would do it now.

I think you could see a drop in material prices, but the labor costs/upcharges will remain the same. So, as another poster stated, it most likely will drop, but we're not seeing pre-COVID prices ever again

This. In my area its 18-24 months for a reputable contractor.
