Is it even possible to buy what you need to do this?

I have one in front of my house that keeps getting bigger and the road is private so the city won't fix it.

What are my options? Just pay someone to come fix it?

Com to Mississippi, that's all they do. A hard hat full of dry asphalt, roll over it w their truck, they're good to go.

You can by\uy ‘cold patch” asphalt at your local Lowes or HD. As grand says, if there is not a solid base, I would also buy some crushed limestone to fill the hole up with first. Drive over the limestone for a few days to pack and then put the cold patch over that.

ETA: or you can go and find some guys working for the county and slide them a hundy each to come patch it on their lunch break.

AQUA PATCH is a "permanent" pothole patching water activated cold mix asphalt. When you can't get a hot mix, AQUA PATCH should be the first choice for bagged cold mix asphalts as it's water-activated instead of bitumen and can be applied in rain or shine. I have used this a few times always different pot holes... This is the best pot hole repair on the market.

Not saying I've ever done this but....

The aqua patch over crushed limestone will definitely work.

Clean the pot hole out, throw a layer of gravel in, pack it in, then apply the aqua patch.

Like they said, I'd get some crushed limestone, tamp it down really well, then put a cold mix patch on top. That's all the city maintenance is going to do anyway.

Ask the Louisiana DOTD. That’s all they do.

In my area there are companies who specialize in this. Actually very reasonable price if you have a little time to wait. They will group you with other pot holes / patches in the area and tackle them same day.

i like the cold patch idea. i feel like that video of the dude in the golf cart could have done that whole thing in half the time. how much scraping around with his shovel was actually necessary?

my 9yo saw me watching the video & said "try ez50"

true story. i have no idea what he's been watching to come out of the blue with a legit cold patch competitor product.

seriously.

just make sure you get all loose dirt out of the hole before filling

i used to know a guy who had to patch a 2 mile private blacktop road for a lakeside housing community. he said the tar sticks good and all but you cant expect it to stick to loose soil.

also he just stomped it down with his feet and then laid a small square of scrap plywood over it and then used his car to flatten it out
