Dead grass from storm damage

Two big trees fell in my back yard. A good portion of the yard is now just dead grass. I have St Aug. What is the best way to promote growth?
Throw out a winter cover seed and then get the St Aug to fill back in next year? The grass areas are basically mud right now.

Top dress the dead areas with fill sand, and lay down some sod or wait for St. Aug to take over.
