Drunken Crawfish, I'd appreciate your advice since you hydroseeded your yard with the same grass as me, Daniela II.

I'm 2 weeks in, and the grass has taken off. There are a few spots where it is a little bare, but seedlings are popping up in those areas. Those are few and far between.

Most of my lawn is between 2" and 5" already. I know you waited a while to mow your grass, but I don't want to wait too long and hopefully help with lateral growth. Do you think it's safe to mow the lawn in the next few days? And if so, I assume I mow it pretty high as to not overstress the new grass? I'm thinking 3.5 or 4 inches, then wait a few days, and cut it down to 3". I'd repeat that process until I get it to the height I want it at.

Any advice is appreciated.

Wow. Up to 5” in height in 2 weeks. That’s amazing.

Yeah, no shite! I wasn’t planning on purchasing a mower just yet.

My wife asked me yesterday, “are you going to get that jungle under control?”

Just let the grass grow for awhile. Most people mess their new grass up bc they get impatient and either constantly cut it smashing ruts into it or cut it too early and it dies out. Just let it grow for awhile and establish a good root system and then cut it to desired height a little bit at a time.

You in trouble now. Time to head on down to the mower shops and get to narrowing down which ones make your short list. When momma ain’t happy nobody is happy.

Yo, glad it worked out for you. I cant imagine what a PITA it was keeping the ground wet with this drought.

I think I waited like 6 weeks to mow. Yes, mowed it at like 4 inches and then worked my way down. I actually keep my yard longer than typically bermuda and my grass seems to like it that way.

Thanks! I’ll do that then. I’ll wait at least another week and see what it looks like.

My irrigation system I just had put in was the saving grace. I’m watering 3 times a day for about 7-15 minutes each time depending on the zone.

Thats priority #1 next week. I’m leaning to a 48” versus a 42” zero turn, and it seems we have all the major brands close by (gravely, hustler, bad boy, spartan, JD, etc.).

How can I tell what type of bermuda I have? My yard was sodded three years ago. My neighbor recently hydro mulched his bermuda and within a week it was about 6" to 8" tall. They are both different colors.

Mine is a deeper darker green than his.

That’s worth its weight in gold having a good dealer down the road in case you need something worked on. People often don’t think about that kind of stuff but it sure is nice when help is close by.

Do the biggest that will still fit through a single-swing gate. I have a 60" and it's too big.
